If we have to settle for Sumlin, then I'm fine with it. I hate to get another SEC teams reject, but it is what it is. I generally would like to get someone that is on top of their game and going up, not someone that was just fired.

He would do alright, we will win 8-9 a year and 10 every now and then. Just like at A&M. The east is coming back...GA, Fla will be back, we will be like always, standing on the outside and wishing for an east title while GA and Fla are competing every year and winning them.

But, I think he is the best we can do right now.

I think your as good as the people you surround yourself with..Hopefully if sumlin takes the job he will clean house. And bring in a staff that would get us back on rocky top, rocky top Tennessee.

I think honestly Sumlin could recruit well for TN and hopefully results are good in Year 1 should TN be lucky to get him. Would he improve our current class for next year as it stands now?? I think he could go 8-4 his first year and then go from there. Guess we will see what happens in the coming days. Hope we have a coach by end of the weekend!! VFL and Go Vols!!!

Kiffin coached the most underachieving team in the history of college football. in his 3rd year, USC was preseason #1 in the country, and limped their way to 7-6, losing to Georgia Tech in their bowl game 21-7. But, somehow, because of turning around FAU, our fanbase thinks the tool can coach now. go figure :pilot:

Not sure what you are dancing around here. Martin was treated fine. His teams under performed for the first few seasons. And folks voiced their opinions about it.

You did also have the fact that he was replacing a successful coach who was loved by many fans because he had brought us back from the nether regions of college basketball to air that we had never breathed before. If it were not for a lousy draw catching that dang Michigan State and their great coach in the Elite 8.......we would have gone to a Final 4.

As you know, Coach Martin's team played well in the tourney his last year. And THEN he ran off into the night without even giving the genius folks running the program a chance to counter offer his deal with Cal. In hindsight, it is amazing that those clowns even knew he had left town. Also, Martin failed to impress at Cal and he gets to return to UT in the near future to, most likely, polite applause.

If Coach Sumlin were to be hired and bring this program back to prominence, he would be lauded. There would be more kids running around there named Sumlin or Kevin than you could shake a stick at.

I want a good coach and I believe that he such a coach. Hopefully, with a burning in his gut to make A&M regret firing him during what was clearly a rebuilding year.

He's averagely mediocre.

But, hey, if you want that.

He's major settling. He's not a good coach. His game day coaching is mediocre to poor.
