Just received a text from a mid-level booster friend. He's good buddies with one of Chavis's really good friends. Apparently a Sumlin+Chief package deal is in the works and is as good as done.

Trying to currently get more precise information on the status of the negotiation as well as the rest of the AD's reaction/activity related to it...

I wish someone would have kept a running total of how many times a poster had said either a: Gruden won’t leave his cushy job to come here, or b: Gruden can’t coach. It would be wonderful to be able to throw those numbers back when Gruden said Yes to being our HC. Even more so after he proved to be successful here. I’ve only been following since October and I’ve read those two comments a LOT! Can’t imagine how many times you all have heard it since the first Gruden thread. Talk about a sweet victory!

About what exactly? This is now a multi-project issue. I think we could still get the white whale. In fact, I'm still 98% that we HAD the white whale. I now believe we get him only if Blackburn is AD.

I agree, but I doubt we get him either way. If Blackburn is AD, I do think it means we will at least try.

Really? With the failure of the D under Chavis at A&M do you think Sumlin would even what to bring Chavis with him? I don't think so. I love JC, but I don't want him back at DC. The 3rd and Chavis D is deplorable.
