I hope he is a legit candidate and is willing to listen but...my take on Sumlin.


I by no means am trying to introduce anything racially here myself. The fact of the matter is Big Al has already introduced that. We have threads already in the FF where this is being discussed and I dont have any doubt the AD has eyes on it it.

Sumlin was introduced as a candidate to nkt only give the appearance they are trying really hard AND to squash anything race related.

I’d pick Sumlin over the field. The guy was at one point the hot name in coaching...a good offensive coach. When he was at his zenith he was rumored for pro jobs. People make a big stink about retreads but the guy has experience—a winning record—-could probably put together a compentent staff. I heard the knock was player development and too high expectations after the Manziel era. At this point, I think you roll the dice—but geez the way our administration is this probably won’t happen because it’s logical. UT don’t do logic.

I don't think he will take the job. He just left a place where he got hate mail calling him the N word. No way he comes to this place. Cuonzo is probably calling him right now too.

And I think his name is being introduced because we are starting to take heat for ignoring an obvious black candidate.

Been nice seeing him back out there again. What I have gotten to watch, he’s looked pretty good, considering he hasn’t played in a year.

Sumlin has plenty of tread on the tires. I think that a lot of coaches end up in bad/mediocre situations because of decisions they made 2, 3, 4 years prior. Sumlin may have mismanaged stuff during the Manziel era that came back to haunt him. Hard to course correct when you're in deep on hires and roster management and recruits.

At UT he gets a fresh start.

You don't think Butch didn't tell his buddy Sumlin to stay the F away from the idiots running the ship at UT? I dont see this happening.

Maybe that's why Jimmy is suddenly talking about Sumlin and Tee.

I think Miles could be potentially good. He still has a lot of ties to Louisiana and I think he could recruit well. Give him a good OC and see what he could do. I realize I'm beating a dead horse but this is our Rick Barnes for football. I don't think it's a long term solution but I think it's the best option right now.
