Recruiting Forum Football Talk XLVIII (New Coach Edition)

Time to start the engines. The New Coach Edition thread will soon be heading toward Version 2.0 without a new coach in about an hour.

It won't do any good.

Haslam runs UT. Period.

Haslam has his hands in Everything UT. He has donated millions and millions of dollars to get this kind of power. And he's a man that doesn't care if feelings get hurt.

I have a feeling Doeren will be hired and we will be looking for another coach in 3-4 years. And then the same sh*t storm will happen all over again

I legitimately feel like the Haslam's think they're completely above us "common folk". I doubt they care one iota about how the fans feel about things up there. To them, we really don't matter. Arrogance.

i hate this school administration

You got:

A national championship coach in Miles available that wants your job

A former national champion QB and top young OC in Tee that wants your job

You had a shot at brohm with top 10 offenses nearly every yr as a HC but you tried to change your offer.

You probably could have got Gundy if you called him first

You got a DC in Pruitt that every yr as a D.C. Has coordinated a top 10 defense and been an elite recruiter and win national championship that wants your job.

Yet somehow you close a deal with a more aggressive version of the guy you fired then have to back out. Now you try to hire a replica version of the guy you fired. I am just dumbfounded at their stupidity. It's so obvious it hurts.

Is it not a red flag that Doeren went 8-4 ,finished second in his division, has done this at NC St. yet his AD can't stand him and neither does anyone that's worked around him. Freaking NC state shouldn't be wanting us to take him. We will probably take him and they hire Brohm. Willing to bet Schiano won't get an interview

No we do NOT need to support MORE loser, ignorant crap from the administration. That’s why we are where we are now, years of supporting a bunch of bumbling idiots who don’t care about winning and don’t even understand that going cheap on coaches then having to pay their buyout costs more money than it saves.

This guy gets it. Supporting a mediocre coach and clone of the same coach we just fired shouldn't be tolerated.

We can support the players because I honestly feel really bad for them. This is not what they signed up for and def don't deserve what they are getting.

Look Wes, its pretty damn simple and I'm getting tired of all the ignorance ...
All the fans are asking for is the AD to do their job and bring the best coach possible to UT. Not a single person can argue that they are clearly not doing their job and are making half ass, knee jerk decisions and running this search like a pack of discombobulated jackturds. So are we just supposed to sit here with our hands in our laps like good little boys and girls and be happy with whoever they get and support them with our hard earned money? If you are being sarcastic, then you are a bigger idiot than the AD...

Rucker has actually been on the fansside throughout this one, dude.

That tweet was meant for those in the AD

Trust me—I get it. My point still stands.

If we follow your point then the Evil Empire still wins. Doren may deserve a better shot than he gets if he is the guy, but the only way to get things to change is to force them to and that means to boycott, not spend money, not attend games, riot on social media,

It’s true. No happy successful coaching are leaving. It’s not just us. David Shaw, Peterson, Gundy, etc have all been approached from “better” jobs. It’s not just Tennessee..LSU and USC has “failed” coaching searches at the times and look how they’ve both turned out. Throwing out Schiano was ok but it’s over with. Whoever the next hire is we have to get on board with or at the very least quit foaming out the mouth trying to devour him.

No good coach is going to come here knowing the Haslams run the football program instead of letting the HC.

It's been 10 years of this BS and by reading your post you are part of the problem.

It’s not wholly to blame, but it certainly doesn’t help. Seems like a couple of our players came out recently and basically said they realized they need to buy in to whoever the new coach is in order to succeed. That indicates to me that they feel like that was a problem this year, which isn’t surprising. When the whole world (led by Vol fans) is ridiculing your head coach constantly, how do you expect them to buy in and respect him in the locker room? How do you expect a Cade Mays to buy in? You just can’t.

The relentless negativity hurts this program. Right now, nobody will touch this job, and it is in large part because of that toxicity.

Battered Vol Syndrome is real.
Stop blaming the victims. Us, The fans.
The reason for the toxicity is because of the unrelenting all encompassing incompetence of one family.
The Haslams are poisonous.
You keep mollifying them if you want.
Not me. I will speak out against them with my last breath.

I 110% agree we need a disciplinarian. So where the hell did Pruitt go and a candidate???

Derek Dooley was 32-41 in 6 years as a head coach.

Dave Doeren is 56-34 in 7 years.

BIG DIFFERENCE in those two.

He is 33-30 at NC State in five years. I challenge you to name one coach on his staff. He will likely bring most of them with him. He is not known as a recruiter. His class last year was 53rd. If his only asset is that he's not Dooley, we've already tried that. It didn't work.
