Official Jon Gruden Thread XLV

Nope not that guy.

I’m just tired of cryptic responses and rumors. We are in the worst era of UT athletics, and the time to fix it is now. I’m not the only one who feels this way on this site.

We’re all frustrated but that’s no reason to behave like a douche bag. Best action is to pick another thread to hang out in....simple.

Regardless of Beaver trolling us or not, regardless of if Gruden was or was not ever a viable option, how can we overlook the complete sh!tshow that went down Sunday? Even if you didn’t think Gruden was an option, to have Currie and Davenport bungle an offer to Schiano is about the definition of gross ineptitude and negligence.

I find it hard to believe anyone would have been thrilled with Schiano. He’s a bully and given our recent run ins with sexual misconduct, not exactly who we want as a poster child of our football team.

I dont doubt the info that we had. I do think it was way over blown from those who gave them their info.

Jeff Brohm it is. I have little complaints about but will get behind it, and have a wait and see approach.

Not even a top 4 option...nothing has changed. I hope I'm wrong. I know where I am NOT spending money (other than tuition 🤦*♂️) for the next year.

Related to the post you commented on. Beaver repeatedly stated that "these guys never miss" and that they had 5 years to prepare for this. Then - if reports are to be believed - Haslam pulls the same thing he did in the past, used his placed people to go behind the backs of others to hire who he wants. If this group of powerful people was so prepared, how were they not prepared for the same tactic used in the past?

On top of that - if there was an agreement with Gruden that Currie did not follow up on (have seen this alleged) - why wouldn't the powerful boosters have been aware of this and done something about it.

In hindsight - some things aren't adding up.

Can’t speak for Atlanta, but here’s how it seems like it went down.

Boosters (and others) approached Gruden and negotiated a deal eventually. These guys were under the impression that EVERYBODY was on board. All that was left was to publically fire Butch and have Currie close the deal.

The Schiano deal Sunday caught everybody off guard. Atlanta said he was notified by an OSU staffer while Currie and whoever else was already there.

Haslam never intended the Gruden deal to go through apparently and had his little lap dog working on Schiano the whole time.

Now will the other big money guys follow through with their threat to pull funding.

Currie needs to be fired, but it wouldn’t do any good because another Haslam puppet will get the job.

He can't, or won't. However you want to look at it. Buried back in the very early threads is your answer.

And if it were me, I would probably have deleted that answer.

Sorry...maybe i’m Just dumb. Exile alluded to his source having an NDA. However, his source shared that info with him, then he in turn shared it with Knuck? That sounds really strange for a person of Exile’s character.

So how are we going to feel when we hire Brohm at 2PM and Gruden is fired at 4PM?

What if we hired Brohm then fired Currie, then hired Gruden in one of those consultant type positions like Saban’s been doing with all those ex-coaches?

Then the boosters behind the movement should have used a reputable source to make that know a couple of weeks ago. Had they done so the pressure would have swollen to an extent the AD/Haslam would have had no choice in the matter.

I thought that was what they were doing except it was later revealed during the Schiano hire that Currie was double-crossing the big boosters and somehow got PM to go along with it.
