I was going to go all-in next year on donation. No kids yet so wanted to have fun before those roll around. I feel like I should call them and tell them that.

Can't get there at work. Transcript? Cliffs notes?

He talked about the last thing he saw before he lost his sight was the Sugar Vols. Said the next day, he lost his sight and he became a super fan after that.

Stated that it was apparent that no one cares about the fans, and he was about to the point of not caring as well.

I am not doing his call justice, but it was something else.

By no means am I suggesting that. I’m merely bringing up the point he turned us down last time. Nothing more nothing less. I have no problem with him going to USC or staying there.

However, you bring up a great point if Tee Martin never played here would he be on your list?

If never played at UT I probably wouldn't know who he is, tbh.

IMO, you can't simply say he turned UT down. The situation has to be right. He didn't feel it was right at the time.

I know I'm stating the obvious, but if Jon Gruden didn't decide to coach here this time around, he will never, ever coach at Tennessee. Quite frankly, I think the Grumors are detrimental to the fan base and, given that I think we're going to end up with Butch Jones 2.0 thanks to the Schiano F up and will be coach hunting again in the near future, I hope the fan base has finally learned their lesson with regard to Grumors. The "sources" are probably crap, and even if they are reliable and we do talk to Gruden, we've seen that it's just to placate the fan base. He is not coming to Tennessee.

So all of this is the fault of "grumors" and "grudenites"?

So the narrative of the power struggle between Haslam and all the other big boosters, is it real or not? Is it really the big boosters vs the mid level guys? As far as i know the fans are the only ones with the b*lls to say outloud where we stand so i have no clue?

Its obvious Haslam is still in control. Currie is still the AD, Bev is still the Chanc, and Gundy was just a show. "We tried but he said no, so heres some dude that sucks."

If there really is a large group of powerful boosters that are ready to take UT back then why are they not saying anything publicly at all? At least leaking info to the national press about why the fans did the right thing and point to what is really happening on the Hill. Something to help cool the flames?

The fans have been getting ripped across the country, UT is being laughed at by all our rivals, we are being told to not give up and keep fighting but theres nothing concreate to say exactly what we are fighting for and who is on our side and who isnt. If Currie is Haslams yes man like has been indicated if he takes the fall, Haslam will just put another yes man in his place. Then what have we accomplished?

Ive sent emails and made calls and im ready to keep carrying the fight but i want to know where the lines are drawn and who is on what side but not from cryptic info on message boards or twitter. I want at least some small showing of Charlie Ergan(sp?) Or Anderson or somebody so i know im not fanning the flames for the wrong reasons.

I agree. The fans are being crucified in the media. We need these other boosters to stand up publically and Lead. The fans will follow because we are all fed up with this administration.

What do we know we are just hillbilly idiots that give money to the university which keeps a lot of things going properly I wish this fan base would ignite and lite up the phones like they did on Chris Fowler when he made the "trailer trash" comment the whole damn state wanted a piece of him so much that eSPN didint show up here for years for his safety

Good morning, folks.

Life in orbit of the University of Tennessee athletics sucks right now.

But life elsewhere is kinda good. My old man's chemo treatments continue to go well, my sister's auto-immune disease seems under control, my wife didn't have have to spend hours tutoring students late into the evening yesterday, neither of my daughters have begun taking drugs, gotten pregnant, or flunked out of university (that I'm aware of), and our cat hasn't gacked up a furball anywhere I've stepped so far this morning.

Things are really looking up.

Good morning. :)

Awesome! Glad to hear.

Wife and I are going in for ultrasound today. Expecting in April.

The sun is shining!

We UNDERSTAND that...read posts before spewing, please.

If you can show me where in my post I said that, sure.

But no, what I actually said was the Grumors are detrimental to the fan base. It reminds me of that episode in South Park where Randy gets addicted to the video game where you chase the dragon but cannot catch it, ever.

Time for the fans to do the nuclear option. Until Haslam gets out and Currie is FIRED folks need to shut it down. To heck with the current administration. Let them sit and wallow with their cheap popsicles and stare at a empty house. They talk about intergrity and they are being led around by a goon and his goon puppets. They rest of the boosters and fans need to turn their back and mutiny at the point. F them, they don't care about a dadgum thing except their own BS power and control. There isn't a law that says we have to buy it. One of the greatest fan bases and one of the most storied programs being ran by idiots, that why we can't get a good coach. IT IS OBVIOUS and growing more OBVIOUS everyday that they are out of touch as all get OUT. Let them sit up in the skyboxes and stare at empty spaces. Let the BE RIDICULED and MOCKED, because if that happens things will turn around I GAUARANTEE IT. If we want to save UT, SHUT IT DOWN AND LET THEM DROWN!

I won't keep repeating myself cause I hate it when others do. But, I'm not gonna be "done" with Tennessee football no matter what happens. I may not be as excited and interested as I usually am, but I'm not going anywhere.

I can't stand Kiffin, but if I reach down to that place inside of me, where things exist that I don't talk about at parties, he "excites" more than the any of the others that are being mentioned right now that might be realistic.

Again, only because of where we are ..
Today, I would be fine with Miles for stability. Tee with a good staff. Then last, Kiffin.

I don't think better names than that are realistic. If they are, GREAT

Anyway, this is just my opinion, obviously no one that matters is listening to me so what I think doesn't mean anything at all.

You know it would be fun! Something that's missing
in Knoxville. VOLS on espn everyday.

You and I both know why you made the post

All of our talk about what 'should' be done is probably all for naught. I can almost guarantee Chad Morris will be on the podium later this week.

Currie and friends get to live another day and fade into the background. GRRRRRRRRRR

it is the only thing that will work.

I’ll be totally honest. We are gonna set our program back another 5 years with this hire. It’s sad and disgusting.

The only realistic candidate left, that can produce a winning product, is Kiffin.

Kiffin is the only canidate left that we would actually have leverage with too. We’re probably his only shot at a P5 school with the means to win big he will get for a decade. Wouldn’t have to get prison raped to get him.

There is 1 coach who could win here and would take this job. If he were to come and admit he's sorry for how he left things and wants to make things whole again, in time all wounds would heal.
We would take a beating initially but that would pass and I really lot believe it's our best move. Can not bring in a mcgoogle special! Jmo

I agree with you...he would be my first choice other than Gruden....I think he could take any college job and make them better

Keep emailing and calling people. Stop your donations, and let UT know your support is over. It's all we can do:

Subject: RE: Thoughts from an alumnus

I hope President Dipietro, Chancellor Davenport, and the Board of Trustees know how serious this situation it. There are countless fans, alumni, donors, and future donors that are on the razor’s edge of walking away from the University and the Athletics program that we have all grown up loving. We have many potential outlets for our entertainment and our generosity.

John Currie and his supporter(s) behind the scenes have made a mockery of our good name, made us the laughing stock of college football, and as we all saw last night, will continue to add embarrassment on top of embarrassment to this travesty. If John Currie is allowed to hire the next football coach, instead of being removed for his gross negligence in this situation, I for one am done supporting my alma mater and its athletics program.

It is time for the adults in the room to take a step back, swallow some pride, damage some egos, and hit reset. As I stated below, this is bigger than one hire of one football coach. There are at least two available VFLs qualified to take over as interim AD, either of whom can start this process over, restore some dignity and professionalism to our coaching search, and begin the process of restoring the trust of Vol Nation.

We all want progress, but if you're on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road. – C.S. Lewis

I agree- easily our best option at this point. Haslam will walk away from the university before he will allow that hire, though.
