Official Jon Gruden Thread XLV

If you recall when Butch was hired, it took all the marketing effort available to get 80000 in Neyland for a game. I was at Fulmer’s last game, attendance was embarrassing. I believe that until any coach produces a winning product your ceiling in Neyland is 75000. If they hire Steele, Morris, or some other gullible goat, half empty Neyland will be unattainable.

And btw, I hate to say it, but I’m believing the Manning/Gruden package to the Browns is more believable the longer this draws out. Think about it. We’ve been played.

I was at that game too. Front row of student section with my brother who was a student at the time. Unfortunately, the only rain jacket I had was Kentucky blue, so I had to end up dishing it at one point and getting soaked just to show that I wasn't a Kentucky fan

I know nothing right now. I know there is a huge power struggle. That’s really it.

But how? It doesn’t appear to be any struggle with Currie flying all over interviewing coach after coach. I know Chad Morris is ready to accept TN’s offer if he hasn’t already, and on the outside nothing has changed.

Watching A to Z Sports broadcast on Facebook right now and said that Kiffin was on Clay Travis an hour ago, and Currie called Sexton, who is Kiffin's agent, and asked Sexton for a list of clients.

Sexton brought up Kiffin to gauge interest and apparently Currie told Sexton that he has no interest in Kiffin as coach

I have said it before but there are far too many in this fan base that look at a Saturday afternoon at Neyland as nothing more than a social event. The product on the field is a secondary backdrop to their party. I guarantee you if they go ahead with the renovations there would be over 95,000 people show up just to say they were there. This would probably happen even if they hired my dumb ass as head coach.

But it’s too late then. We have to strike NOW. I don’t know what else we can do other then what we’re doing but something has to give.

I think we will see smaller crowds from the start of the season, and, as losses pile up, more shrinkage. (Not a Costanza reference)

Unless we get a coach who overachieves, I can see maybe 3 wins next year. Maybe. And another 0-SEC record.

Just to put in perspective of how dumb and out of touch Currie is...EVERYONE AND THIER BROTHER ON THIS BOARD even said that if chip Kelly got offered the UCLA job and they fired Jim mora that he would indeed bolt for the west coast,he was stringing along the Florida fan base just waiting for that to open up,dan Mullen was not UF first choice but they got their number 2 guy!..while dip**** Currie was relaxing in the Bahamas on a free trip he assumed he had Mullen and took it easy now look where we are we can't even get the 7th and 8th guy on the list...FIRE CURRIE

Just had an associate in the AD call me. I still owe $10k for my pledge for the remaining of the 2017 year. He also asked me if I wanted to pledge more. I kindly told him no, and I also told him that I would not be making the $10k either until something changed in the AD and our football program. He then stated that I was already committed to making the pledge and that he was just simply reminding me. I told him to please tell Currie, that I was simply reminding him that I didn't sign anything on the additional pledge and to remind him his days were numbered. He said ok, and would make a note.

As a football school we don’t have time to push out Currie and Haslam, we miss on this recruiting class and we’re at Vandy level for a while. I get the whole it’s not about a winning coach as much as it is about getting the admin issues corrected but let’s be honest here, we go 3-9 and the majority of our “fans” will disappear. Gruden isn’t coming here after that **** show Sunday so we can give that up just find a decent coach and let’s go try and salvage a football program that can be great again in time

Please, everyone...I implore you to go to WKGN website. Podcast center is on the right of the screen. Click that and the one that says 3 & out Rusty... please listen to that call.

Heartbreaking and inspiring.

WOW, thanks for sharing!

What happened

Come on dude. Seriously. You were in the Football Forum and decided to click on a Gruden thread. Why? To come say something stupid? It worked.

And this goes for all you people who come in here to complain: Stop clicking on the thread. It's easy. You look like a bunch of sackless whiners.

That's the thing. They have to search for this thread to come in here and complain.

So the narrative of the power struggle between Haslam and all the other big boosters, is it real or not? Is it really the big boosters vs the mid level guys? As far as i know the fans are the only ones with the b*lls to say outloud where we stand so i have no clue?

Its obvious Haslam is still in control. Currie is still the AD, Bev is still the Chanc, and Gundy was just a show. "We tried but he said no, so heres some dude that sucks."

If there really is a large group of powerful boosters that are ready to take UT back then why are they not saying anything publicly at all? At least leaking info to the national press about why the fans did the right thing and point to what is really happening on the Hill. Something to help cool the flames?

The fans have been getting ripped across the country, UT is being laughed at by all our rivals, we are being told to not give up and keep fighting but theres nothing concreate to say exactly what we are fighting for and who is on our side and who isnt. If Currie is Haslams yes man like has been indicated if he takes the fall, Haslam will just put another yes man in his place. Then what have we accomplished?

Ive sent emails and made calls and im ready to keep carrying the fight but i want to know where the lines are drawn and who is on what side but not from cryptic info on message boards or twitter. I want at least some small showing of Charlie Ergan(sp?) Or Anderson or somebody so i know im not fanning the flames for the wrong reasons.

Exactly. That’s been my point all morning. And apparently the power struggle is more of a tickle fight because nothing is happening. I’m just sad and heartbroken over this. My fondest memories as a child was Saturday’s at Neyland with my family. I wanted so bad to pass that tradition down to my kids but that is a fantasy at this point.

Slow down. Punctuation is your friend.

Currie is the active AD. Bill is head of the BOT. It’s gonna take more than a few days or even weeks, to evoke change.

Pressure needs to be constant

Jmo, but I think a lot of the time posts get misunderstood, its hard sometimes to accurately convey true meaning of feelings in text.

I never wanted Miles, Kiffin or Tee. But seeing the debacle we are witnessing right now, I'd be very happy with any of those compared names like Morris or Healy.

I mean, this is like who do I want as POTUS, Trump, Hilary, Rodman or Springer, and I have to pick one. "None" is not an option.

Behr - Apologies for my response to you last night. It was rude and I shouldn't have said that.

We are down to a "lesser of evils" situation.

Somebody made a case for Mike Houston recently. Heck at this point, why not? At lease he's a proven winner. Albeit at a lower level.

This University keeps making the same mistake over and over again. This was the same issue we had when Dooley was hired and then Butch, And now this hire. The same mistakes are made over and over again.

I am done with UT Football. What was built by Robert Neyland was killed off years ago.

I think Boro has moved on to be a fan of Maryville. Don't blame him. I'm gone too as soon as Currie trots a corpse up to the podium.

Just think... we could all become Scots fans... Maryville College wouldn’t know what to do first with all the money from just ticket sales alone :good!:
