Exactly. I could not feel like a bigger fool for buying into that theory, hook line and sinker. I was 100% sold this was happening.

This isn’t about Gruden for me anymore. Currie should’ve been shown the door. I agree with another poster, yesterday wasn’t nothing but a show. To calm the masses.

They have no plans of getting rid of Currie. At all. The best thing to do now, put Fulmer in as interim and let him coach next year. Look for another AD in the process and go big next season.

Well I can say this with 100% heart felt meaning. If we hire a bottom tier coach, I am done supporting UT. I am sick of wasting my money week after week, buying gear, planning my life around UT football. Until we make a serious change I am out. The Empty Neyland movement is what it will take to open some eyes. I'm not talking about a game or two, it would take all year long to make them lose so much money and make a change. I have held on by threads for 10 freaking years, and I am over it

I am really down this morning and it really has nothing to do with Gruden. It's just become painfully obvious that we have fired a clown and will most likely end up with another one. My fandom is on life support but I will stick to my word and hang in there until the next coach is officially announced.

I am here till this train wrecks.... will decide after the hire

Down right now!

This is pretty much where I'm at too. Except as soon as any coach other than Gruden is announced, I'm out on the University of Tennessee. I just literally cannot care about the program anymore when I know we should have had the best and have once again settled for less.

Right now, the only thing that would give me hope of any kind would be to see Currie gone. If he makes a hire, any hire, then UT is formally a wholly owned and operated subsidiary of Haslam, Inc., and I am 100% out on that.

It's clear now that once again UTAD made no approach to Gruden. In fact UTAD trolled the fan base with the fake flight plans.

I firmly believe Gruden reached out to us in the Seattle interview. He let us know he wanted to talk.

If anyone not named Haslam was governor, the entire coterie of stupid would have been removed by now, root and stem starting with Davenport and Currie.

Boosters did, but you are correct UTAD played the boosters and all the fans.

Baring a miracle this is where I am at too. We are done for 10-15 years. An entire generation of fans gone.

Subscribe to pretty much all of this.

At the end of the day if the truth really does come out, you're going to find out the entire Gruden thing was BS start to finish. The master plan and clandestine meetings were BS. The Haslam is the bad guy narrative is almost not entirely complete BS and drummed up, promoted, and inflamed by a bunch of low level boosters who have their feelings hurt they don't have the influence they wish they did. Currie turns out to be a completely incompetent hire, what AD offers a job not knowing if the person being offered will actually take it?? Allowing Gundy to go public with numbers and turning us down was incompetence at it's highest. The guy in my opinion this morning is on a mission to punish UT football fans plain and simple. If $10 million would get Gruden here I'm all for it, but the signed MOU story, house bought stories were all complete BS. I'm not sure Gruden would agree to work for Currie or anyone else at UTAD for $10 million, make him the AD perhaps but I doubt it. He doesn't want to work that hard at this stage of his life IMO, been there done that.

Currie offering huge money to Gundy and getting shot down is yet another embarrassment. At this point, I feel we need to go the interim route for a year and clean house in the admin department. Right now we look beyond desperate, which we are. The fact Currie hasn’t called Miles or Tee yet is astounding.

I agree. 100 percent.

What's the chance they are just biding time until Gruden is available?

I'll hang up and listen.

Something occurred to me as I was pumping gas this morning. First off, I was wondering if this particular chain was a subsidiary of Pilot. But then I wondered....what if.....

What if the Gruden talk was legit and contact had been made, but NOT for him to coach UT, but to coach the Browns? That Haslam had used his influence and played the boosters into thinking he was cooking a deal to get Gruden here when he was getting him to Cleveland. After all, Gruden is from Ohio.

Made me queasy just thinking about it.

Now that I've had more time to digest getting kicked in the balls multiple times, the only path through this for UT fans is a removal of Currie and staff and a clean slate so to speak. There is no coach in the country that's even remotely interested in coming here at the moment while he is at the helm. At least not one worthy of the Tennessee brand.

We have to have a redo right now. Currie is bouncing around from different coaches like a superball and has to be stopped. From Schiano to Cut to Gundy and now to Morris? Enough of the clown show. Period. End of story.

Get him the hell out and put in an interim. Start fresh.

Dang. Couldn’t wait to wake up and see if Gruden would “signal”. Nope, nada, nuttin.

So, we’re down to Chad Morris or Dave Doeren. Great. So exciting.

I truly think we will have a coach by the weekend.

Why aren’t we talking to Les Miles? I know he’s kinda old, but he’d bring stability. Anyone we hire is a chance, but he’s proven his worth. I think he’s still got a few good years in him.

This. My seven and five year old will become Bammer fans like my husband or Richmond spiders fans as that is where we will buy tickets at next year. No way am I going back to Neyland with this garbage.

The connection was very real. I don't think anything was signed by Gruden like some others think, but there was interest and offers thrown out. Unfortunately you are correct saying the ship has sailed. If something isn't done to remove Currie and put Haslam in check we will stay where we are now, the bottom half of the SEC. This can be salvaged with putting a real AD in and starting a real search. It will set us back some next year because of timing, but next year is not very promising no matter who the coach is.

I respect you and I trust your knowledge of the situation. Reading your post I must believe he has chosen to distance himself from this train wreck. He has played this perfectly for him by never publicly acknowledging anything one way or another. Now, that it has blown up, he can deny ever even being contacted and everything that comes out can be written off to wild Grumors and fan speculation just like in 2012.
