Miles is the only thing that makes sense. Give him a contract with a declining buyout. Let him stabilize things similar to what Barnes has done with basketball. Probablyyou could get him on the cheap. Give him $5-$6 mil for coordinators. Let him go to work. He still has brand recognition which will help him recruit. Probably can get a kid or two out of LA every year due to his contacts. Bring in the guy that's at LSU that has ties to middle TN. It will work. He has no buyout. Your probably going to be doing this in 4 years again anyway.

Who would work for him

Best post from a Gruden thread yet.

Well, we started the day by realizing Currie was still the AD:

Tried to wake up with coffee, still remembering Currie was still the AD:

Our drive to work wasn't fun, remembering Currie was still the AD:

We really got angry when another driver yelled "Roll Tide!" at us:

But managed to make it to work without getting put in jail, however, saw two cars with Gator bumper stickers in front of us:

Hopped on our computer to check VN, but still no word Currie had been removed:

Then...suddenly the mood changed as word started getting out about that mullet guy in Oklahoma...

And we thought, "maybe he isn't so bad" as more news came out:

But it was a lot of money offered:

a-lot-of-money.gif

So, we pondered it:

And came to the conclusion maybe it could work:

So, we waited patiently...sort of:

Until news came out our offer was turned down:

Which confused us since it was a great offer:

giphy.gif

I mean, how many coaches have said no already?

giphy.webp

Maybe it's us?

original.gif

No, it's you Currie:

tenor.gif

And anger returned:

Combined with rage:

Freak implored us to behave:

But, we wished we could be the Chancellor for just five minutes and do what needs to be done:

We felt like we would understand Ape's posts before understanding how Currie could utterly fail:

Maybe sleep would help:

Not helpful. Maybe a nightcap?

Or two:

And came to the simple conclusion:

Bahama John has been compiling his list for years... for this moment.

That clown pulled it out and it said, “Greg Schiano” and he said, “Aight. Let’s roll!”

That coaches list was in the ADs desk drawer since 2009 and had some take out menus covering it up. Currie found it and thought it was still relevant.

I believe no one will work harder at getting Tennessee back to where we need to be than Tee Martin. A great recruiter and motivator is what's most important from a HC, as long as he surrounds himself with good coordinators and isn't too stuck on himself to allow them to do their job. Dabo's resume didn't scream 2 national championship appearances either, but there's something to be said about someone who truly wants to be there. Tee deserves a serious look, if not, I believe we'll regret it.

The only thing at this point that will have me amped up about UT football again is Tee, and a staff of former Vols. I'm not even saying it's the best decision, but tbh I think it has the most potential. He's an elite elite recruiter and a legend here who former Vols would rally behind. Give him the money to assemble whoever he wants. Also if he was successful he could be a long term solution.

Morris might be an OK coach but I severely doubt he could make us elite. It's a 7-5, 8-4 kinda hire. Which is fine I guess. But isn't that what we were so pissed off at Butch for before this awful season? Steele would be a catastrophic nail in the coffin. He's a 60 year old decent DC who Hyams had to cite 50 year old men he recruited. He was an utter failure as a head coach and already has some issues with pressure apparently. Brohm isn't coming. Pruitt is maybe a decent option, but in what way is he a better fit than Tee? Idk who else is even an option. Norvell looks like he's headed to Arky. I can't get behind the Kiffin thing. He's fun, I loved that season, but that dude doesn't have an ounce of loyalty in him and is a major recruiting violation waiting to happen.

Give me Tee or I'll be even more of a casual fan than I was this year (I realize no one cares). Went to every home game and quite a few away games for five years straight before this season in which I didn't attend a game. Quit watching most of our games around half time bc accepting what we are now is just disappointing. Zero excitement, complete incompetence. Bring me Tee or I'm out. Barring an out of the blue hire of the Gundy caliber.

I’m still convinced that all else being equal, if we could kill the Bama series (i.e., invite Auburn to the east and move Mizzou to the west) and move the Florida game back to later in the season, our job becomes much more attractive.

I think our SEC schedule, coupled with fan expectations, makes the job completely undesirable.

Either that or we as fans stubbornly wait 5 or 6 more years until Saban leaves, pray that Bama and Florida blow some more hires, and then go from there.

Someone wanna give me cliff notes? I know Gundy turned us down...so there's that.

Mark my words, Mullen is going to kill it in Gainesville.

Of the guys that would take the job (besides coach mcgoogle), Lane Kiffin has the best odds of making us highly competitive on a sustainable level IMO.

Tee would probably be the best unifier, and might surprise on the upside.

Gundy turned us down after we offered to double his salary.

Kevin Steele might be our next head coach (puke)

The Administration is run by clowns

Tee Martin still hasn't been contacted

Our AD is still run by an imbecile

UT football is screwed

And Schiano plans to sue UT

Just a complete sh*t show

I understand there would be growing pains for Tee if he became head coach right now. Those against it though seem to agree he would/could be a viable option after some more seasoning.

So my question is which scenario is it easier for Tee to be successful in. A) he is announced tomorrow

Or B) he has 3 years of success at a smaller school, and takes over a UT team coming off of 4 straight losing seasons.

Agreed. Coaches go where they think they can win and they look at our job and see our SEC schedule is front loaded. We start out with a team we’ve beaten 6 times in 30 years (Florida) and then have Georgia (50/50 historically), and if you split those you make up the difference by playing a program on one of the best runs in the history of the sport (Bama), which Florida and Georgia rarely play. It’s just a bad schedule and it has been for a while.

That's about it. Doom and gloom. Debates on whether Tee is ready over Steele, give $6 mil to Brohm and somebody on TOS said Morris announced tomorrow. Jimmy said Currie might have interviewed Morris in Dallas today and another reporter said we are not interviewing him tomorrow.

Remember that time in November when all those amazing coaches were calling the AD about the job? High powered offense from the ACC and such?
