That doesn't sound promising at all to me. Like he is using us again, not to get a raise, but to get some little stuff he wants done that his AD has been dragging his feet on. If these guys are as plugged in as it sounds, I don't think we will get him.

To be fair it also sounds like his administration doesn't really want to spend any more money on him.

I hope fans that rail on Coach Fulmer and make fun of him realize he bleeds orange and is doing everything possible to salvage this hire. He’s out there pitching a job he gave his all for and ended up getting throat punched for the effort and the natty. He’s in Texas. He’s a VFL.

I have the utmost respect for coach Fulmer. It’s not easy to swallow your pride after being fired and still come back and put the university first.

It sounded to me like they were not agreeing to investing in the program as much as he liked. It says he was not encouraged by the response.

If he canceled on the kid it probably gets leaked. Plus he risks pissing off a recruit. And what happens if he decides to stay?

No reason for him to NOT go on that recruiting trip. He's still employed by OSU and is likely giving them a final chance to up the ante to keep him there. Sounds like there's a decent chance they tell him to have fun in Knoxville.

If you already have a meeting set up, you don't stand them up. You at least go and have your meeting. The recruit will probably want to know his desicion though.

That’s why we’re only a good coach away from great things. The only problem with that is luring a good coach here. I think Gundy would kill it here, i’d bet he doesn’t want to leave OSU though.

VQ has an article up, but it doesn’t really say much other than they expect a decision by tomorrow afternoon. He went on a recruiting trip after the interview, and then he is supposed to go home and mull it over.

My bet is he says no.

What the heck!? I've been in Dublin for work and am just now catching up. If we end up with Gundy, Sunday will have been the greatest coup in Vol history! What a homerun that would be, all things considered.

I'm doubtful because it just sounds too good to be true, but my goodness! No serious fanbase will accept a bad hire anymore if we come out of this smelling like roses with a serious, top tier coach!
