I guess with Gundy, we are back to all 3 star recruiting classes! SMDH

Oklahoma State 2018 Football Commits

This should be his absolutely homerun selling point. The guy is about to have his 3rd straight 10 win season there. He's finished in the top 5 there. He's beaten top 10 teams there.

His recruiting base is one of the worst in the nation. He's far and away the little brother in his own state and is dealing strictly with the leftovers from Texas, TCU, and Oklahoma.

He will sign top 15 classes here, just like every single coach who ever coached here except for Dooley, who still signed top 25 classes.

I’ll post this again. I have a friend at MSU who’s friends with Chad Morris. TN is conducting a phone interview wih him as we speak.

Fanbase: "Back up the Brinks truck"
AD: "Ok, how about the best coach to give us the time of day in the last 10 years?"
Fanbase: "An extra 2% of yearly AD revenue, WTF are you doing?!?! Not that much!!"

This is pretty much a microcosm of why we are in this predicament in the first place.

So, after everything you've seen you are going to blame it on the fanbase? Really. What rock have you been living under?

It's pure and utter power struggle (i.e. ego) multiplied by incompetence. That's what's gotten Tennessee to this point.

Your perspective also misses a fundamental aspects of supply and demand because you apply to the same logic to all coaches just because they come with the title of head coach. Some coaches are worth $8M. Some are not.

after the cheering about Gundy quiets down, fans need to make sure they can hear Currie/Haslam laughing at them.

at $8M a year and huge Neyland Renovations in the future, I hope boosters remain steadfast in withholding contributions.

Bomani Jones made a point very similar to this yesterday. Worth a listen.

Gundy may not be bad, but still getting jipped imo.

So ten more years of what ifs until the Haslam grip is gone.

Beginning to think Grude turned us down or was never in play. If you had the fish jump in the lake to haul him in.

I believe Exile and others who said a deal was done.

Haslam pulled the pin to the grenade when he had nowhere else to go. Someone dove on it for us to be able to get Gundy but we lost Gruden in the process...casualty of war.

If you think it's "debatable" that a guy who consistently turns 1-3 star recruits into 4-5 star players is a top flight coach, then you're not the kind of person I want representing my fan base. You do not know much

I"m not saying he isn't. You obviously didn't read the whole post cause I said I wouldn't be mad for getting something we wanted, which was a top flight big time winning coach.

I merely stated that others might not see it that way.

How's that leash looking, Jfreak?

I'm with JFreak on this. I have to be. Although I think the pressure needs to stay on the admin, we desperately need to get a good hire and get one quickly to salvage the program. Doesn't mean I don't still want Currie gone and Haslam out of the picture. I'll continue sending emails even after it's done.

The sad thing is put the pieces together. Currie was going Schiano all along, he didn't really pursue any other people. Then folks act like UT can't do no better, they aren't do no better because the top has never wanted a big name coach. They wanted someone they could control. Now with all the outside pressure they are trying to save face but nothing will change. People have to realize until we solve the true problem nothing is going to change. Time for fans to realize the cold hard truth if they ever want Tennessee to be relevent again.

I look at it this way, Les came from Oklahoma State without anywhere near the success of Gundy and look at what he did at LSU.

Gundy is their best coach ever, by far. The guy has went head to head with Mack Brown, Stoops, Harbaugh, Patterson, Snyder, Briles, etc and beat them all. He's faced more good coaches in the Big 12 than he will in the SEC East.

and which one of Gundy's championship teams is your favorite ?

*crickets*
