Offering to double Gundys salary

Good thing defensive coordinators are a thing and TN will spend the money to get him one.
Look, I am on your side. If this happens I hope your right and he is the greatest coach in Tennessee history. I want us to win just like you,we just have different opinions. My only question is has he not had the same opportunity to do that at OK.St. Have a great day my orange blooded brother.

Does not seem like much thinking about the 350 million going into Neyland soon. A football coach is a key person in the program

This whole thing feels like a mutual PR stunt. I'm gonna guess Gundy gets a raise soon...and Tennessee hires Brohm. Which is cool.

You may be right, but think about this. Say you're an up and coming defensive mind, well respected and looking for an upper tier DC job. Do you go to the Big XII and face Oklahoma, TTU, TCU, and WV offenses every year?

Teams in that conference put up points regardless of opposition. If I were a DC, I'd stay away from that conference. Just my opinion.

I'm sure Currie isn't this smart to do so intentionally, but $8.4 mil offered to Gundy might gain some interest from other coaches that are not emotionally tied to their alma mater.

Gundy has averaged 8.7 wins a year in his 13 years at OSU.

His 1st 3 years were "rebuilding" years because OSU was terrible when he took them over.

If you take out the first 3 years, he has averaged 9.5 wins over the last 10 years.

That's at Oklahoma State.. who has to compete with Oklahoma in recruiting. They also have a round-robin style championship in the Big 12, so he plays 9 conference games a year (1 more than the SEC). Their 1st 3 games of the year are non-conference, then they play 9 straight weeks of conference games (no cupcakes for homecoming)

He knows how to coach for a grueling schedule with tough games every week. That's been the problem with most SEC hires recently. There have been some decent coaches who came into the SEC and failed simply because they couldn't maintain their success through the weekly grind of SEC conference play... Gundy won't have that issue.

Gundy is solid and has already proven to be a great head coach.

He already turned down Florida this year.

Does Currie even have any bargaining power?

why would any coach possibly sign on with him?

Currie may be gone soon. Why would the Board of Trustees if Haslam has control of it allow this to happen.

Currie could have prevented this mess from happening instead he created it by not opening up any transparency into the coaching hire.

He is like Butch Jones not accepting responsibility for his mistakes. Instead he blamed it on the fan base for the most part .
He could state unequivocally that he was influenced by Board of trustee member and should not have allowed that to happen. He has not because he thinks he can get through this and I don't think a coach will accept knowing that he may be out the door soon.

We have the wrong person trying to close the deal right now with Gundy or any other coach.

His word cannot be trusted. Too much of a power struggle in the admin for a coaching search or hire...

Wow. Just read that we are offering to double gundys salary from 4.2 mil to 8.4 mil. Thats what Im talking about if he turns us down he turns us down but thats what you have to do!

Big money draws big names. He is an outstanding coach and if we can get him it's sensational.

We're finally willing to start spending like we want to win and we're doing it for Mike Gundy?

Our AD and boosters really don't know anything about football, do they? I mean, there are so many better coaches you could get with that kind of money.

Justin Fuente makes ~3.2 million. He wouldn't come for 8 million?

Heck, I know Chris Petersen is a pipe dream, but he makes about the same as Gundy (and he isn't coaching at his alma mater). Tell me that we at least offered him this much before we offered it to Mike Gundy.

As stated 1000 times before he's not leaving west coast

doesn't matter who they hire, i've already canceled my season tickets after they tried to hire a guy who might be a pedo protector. granted no proof of it and I dont want to go down that road again today but just the blatant incompetence of the AD have turned me away from ever donating again.
