Official Jon Gruden Thread XLIV

Forgive me for believing that a few people got together and brokered a multi million dollar deal without the knowledge of the only people allowed to approve the deal. And when when the AD was approached with a deal that would instantly propel the University of Tennessee to the forefront of the sports world he says no thanks im gonna get Greg Schiano.

Yeah, im gonna need a bit more than a few soon post and Gruden saying rocky top on the radio to believe that. Laugh all you want.

I will.

You still have no idea what you're talking about, or what Im talking about. This is why I started avoiding you most of the time. Your arrogance in thinking you're always right and everyone that doesn't agree is stupid, is annoying. And you're to stubborn to have a conversation with.

Anyway, whine all you want, I'll make you say something else pretty soon so I can laugh some more.

Sorry got lil crazy. Forgive me

me too Sara. I am doubtful that the meeting yielded any positive results though. If in doubt just remember that the clown(S) responsible for yesterday's fecal typhoon will be the same people facilitating the meeting.

Keep sending emails. We can get this done;Currie cannot survive this!

Contracts involved. Just ask EZE.

I don't know what an AD contract looks like. But, I sincerely doubt that it is an at-will employment arrangement.

So, if you fire without cause, you most likely are looking at some kind of buyout. UT is getting really good at those.

Again, this is all speculation because I have no idea about their general terms.

Here’s my fear in all of this. Fatigue. I’m afraid the powers that be will just wait us out until we give in. They will hire someone average and we will be forced to accept it. Currie will sell this person and the majority of the boosters will go along with it because they are tired of fighting it too. Time passes by, basketball is in full swing and coach ______ will have some top recruit flip to us and all of a sudden this will be forgotten. And this thread and what it stands for will look like a high school gymnasium after the big game. Trash on the floor, remnants of the banners torn and on the floor and the lights all turned off except that one that just worn burn all the way out. I hope AtlantaVol and company remember us, the forgotten fans, and take the fight to them for 60 mins, hours or days or however long it takes. We can only do so much.

Ya know, In all honesty it seems that only the fan base is riled up. I’ve seen posters say that the boosters are mad and I respect AV but where is the support from former players, boosters and others. I’ve seen nothing from them.

If you want this to work and I have defended and promoted this cause all day then somebody needs to give us something to latch on to.

Their needs to be an actual person leading the charge a face to put with the voice or people are just going to get bored or give up bc ultimately nothing has been done other then Currie releasing his condescending statement and Davenports support for him.

Also, reports have to start leaking more information. Where’s Hargis? How about some investigative journalism.

To be really honest, I don't believe anyone outside the immediate fan base in Tennessee is too worried about the situation in Knoxville. I asked some of my friends what they thought about our coaching hire and they didn't know what I was talking about. I'm afraid this is a local problem. I care because I'm a die hard fan.

Either way, Tee is running a solid offense.

I like the Memphis guy too, but the intangibles we get from Tee on the 'Tennessee-Guy' and recruiting fronts are big separators for me. Give him the budget for a big staff and go get some talent.

I like Tee. I just think he's underperforming as a OC. I like coaches who milk all the talent out of a player they can. Coaches who do more with less. Then when they get the good players at a better school, great things can happen. I just don't see it with Tee right now, but I've been wrong before.

So we are having a conversation becuase want tell me your side of the conversation? Yeah, ok have fun in Gruden fantasy land.

Well, today was the 1st day in a very long time that I did not wear one peice of UT gear. I usually wear a hat or a watch, if not a shirt while off duty. I don't know what tomorrow holds, but at least yesterday we didn't hire Schiano. Maybe tomorrow we start looking for a new AD, maybe we sign Gruden. I have no information to add, but I trust the regulars in thread. Everyone knows who you guys are. O hope this time next year when I come home, I can see a really well coached UT football team play their hearts out in Neyland. Maybe ATL can hook me up! But right now "I'm to drunk to taste this chicken", so good night all, I'll catch up in the morning. Go Vols!!!!

I can't stand him. But the sumbee keeps getting things right. Drives me crazy.

He gets some things right. However some things wrong too.... Like TN would not get kiffen or tn wasn't going to wear black against the game cocks. I think he has good sources, it's just the way he carries himself. He has to go and needs to take kesling too.

Ok. Because I am an eternal optimist...thoughts on this? Currie now painfully realizes his legacy is on the line with this hire. He has to be so spooked based on yesterday. Is there any chance that, based on the fact that he apparently began the process of getting Schiano 2.5 weeks ago, never seriously gave Gruden consideration? Does Currie, now panicking because of the massive pressure he is under, go and give Gruden whatever he wants to "get his man?"

Thoughts?
