Official Jon Gruden Thread XLIV

Ya know, In all honesty it seems that only the fan base is riled up. I’ve seen posters say that the boosters are mad and I respect AV but where is the support from former players, boosters and others. I’ve seen nothing from them.

If you want this to work and I have defended and promoted this cause all day then somebody needs to give us something to latch on to.

Their needs to be an actual person leading the charge a face to put with the voice or people are just going to get bored or give up bc ultimately nothing has been done other then Currie releasing his condescending statement and Davenports support for him.

Also, reports have to start leaking more information. Where’s Hargis? How about some investigative journalism
.

Another worthy post that need read often

yeah not a good use of the word sabotage. Just can't come up with a good reason why Currie would allow boosters to believe they had a coach hired and a back up plan behind that and in reality they seemingly knew they were gonna attempt to hire Schiano. THEY is Currie, Haslam, Davenport, at a minimum plus now hearing Peyton and maybe one more booster.
L

It had to be this way or the other boosters would have made other moves to intercede before the last second. Currie and Haslam kept the cards close to avoid any interference. We got very lucky someone in the AD bleeds orange to his or her core.

Apparenty they are pissed. Currie lied to them. They thought it was Gruden all along. The guy I was speaking to said this. He knows them.

Also likes up with what AV said earlier.

Do you have a Thunder connection? or just asking?

I mean several 2nd hand connections. My connections are not in the AD or boosters. But yes that is true. Heard anything on the Gruden front? And you are about to get labele a troll. Just an fyi...

If fulmer was in on it along with manning and whoever else was mentioned, then haslam is paying them off or giving them all big big incentives for them just to say yes and turn on a university like that ,just saying maybe haslam is playing the bitter revenge card on fulmer with how he got fired..to me it's plausible but I won't say I believe that 100% either

I think the other poster was saying Fulmer was in on the leak on Curries plan. That's the way I took his comments anyway.

1. Boosters provided Gruden on a platter.
2. Boosters allowed Currie to announce stadium renovations with their contributions helping.
3. Boosters got blindsided. (This, “insiders” did as well.) Booster’s called his bluff and pulled funding — and used political allies to get the message across quickly.
4. Boosters got lucky someone has a spine in the AD and — I love this, brilliant — waited until Currie was in the air to leak it so by the time he got to Columbus it had blown up and no damage control could save it.
5. The leak intentionally went to mainstream, national media. It worked.
6. Davenport backing out saying she had nothing to do with it. Looks like Currie sided with Haslam and is going to take the fall.
7. Gruden. Has. Not. Said. No.
8. Gruden’s. Agent. Has. Not. Said. No.
9. Soon.

I don't know you Vol-Bahm, but I have to ask: do you honestly think Currie would have the balls to go after Gruden now, after everything that has been leaked, confirmed, assumed, or all of the above? I just don't see how unless he is removed, and if he were to be removed, I really feel as if it would have already happened; or at the very least, we'd be seeing more leaks regarding the push to have him removed, which at this point is nonexistent save Trey Wallace and Feldman from earlier today.

I can't believe Peyton had a hand in this near-hire...I distinctly recall feeling at ease that he would be involved in the coaching search.

Pretty sure he approved of Butch at the time if I remember correctly.

Guarantano father comment not a smart thing to do right now

i shouted it from the housetops in no less than 20 threads today. even started 2 threads that quickly got merged. made calls. sent emails. signed petitions.

trying to do my part to apply the pressure.

Good work Preacher....

I rallied our family this evening in 2 different conference calls. Reading them in on the ongoing situation. I wish I had recorded the conversation, the swearing alone was epic. We are a large 6th generation Scottish family with ties to the Smokey Mountains and UT from way back. We love God, family, freedom, UT football and untaxed adult beverages.

They are beside themselves and making calls to voice concern, Some are donors and reaching out to coordinate with some UT connections and get involved in this effort.

I tried to loop them in on the social media efforts with limited results. Some are very tech savvy, others not so much. Just imagine, a bunch of bigheaded, bearded Scotchmen cussing and carrying on while they are all trying to install Twitter and VN app on their avocado green wall phones in the kitchen. It was priceless...

Keep the pressure on folks! Now is the time to be heard.

Later,

CH_V

If ROY ADAMS were still living we would have gotten the REAL inside news about the coach search, instead of all of the fake insider news that has captured the minds of so many gullible people on this board.

I have stated all along my info is second hand. Could care less about the troll label. Easy to find me my Twitter is the same as my username here.

I just post it so others can see and hopefully not lines up with what they are hearing.

I have no idea. To me... this has blown up in Currie’s face. Davenport backing off saying she didn’t sign. Gov. Haslam saying his brother wasn’t involved or whatever. Looks like Currie is taking the fall.

Someone else posted — not sure if true — that in 2012 Gruden’s agent came out and said he wasn’t asked or whatever.

There is too much smoke, too much insider info to have been a complete con job by some internet pranksters or people wanting eCred.

I think a bunch of wealthy people are very mad and UT looks like fools.

And I think Gruden being quiet this whole time is just weird. Maybe not telling. But weird.

And there are other supporters at UT with BIG MONEY. Heck Ergen has a ton of more money than Haslam and many more would give more I guarantee if they felt like they were apart of things more. Many boosters are tired of a few power hungry folks controlling every aspect of UT. Good grief just look at the Browns, and look at UT and look at the who is calling the shots at both. TELL HIM NO MORE NOW!!!

And I could not agree with you more, but if those guys had that much say, Currie would not have blindsided them like he clearly has. That's the point I'm trying to make. But I'm with you all the way! I did my part earlier and made a phone call to the athletic department and alumni affairs. Will they listen? Probably not, but at least I did my part!
