Yesterday did quite a number on the fanbase. Jubilation about hiring Tee Martin?!?! I know yesterday shook most of you pretty hard. But you got to re-center quickly. Martin has interviewed for and been passed over for HC jobs at schools like GA Southern but yet we are excited about him? He it devoid of any HC experience and has not even been an OC for very long. If he did not play and win NC at UT nobody would even remotely bring his name up. Coordinator route should absolutely start with Venables. Then Aranda. Call Brohm.

Nobody would get players to Tennessee like Tee would.

No one would work harder for Tennessee than Tee would.

No one would unite the fanbase like Tee would.

No one would excite the current players on staff more than Tee would.

I'm not saying he should've ever been our top choice when this thing started, but we don't have our pick of coaches anymore. And as it turns out, we never really did.

What has Tee proven to you that makes you think he can return us to the promise land? Cause he won a national championship when Peyton couldn’t? Help me believe he would knock it out of the park.

That's called learning on the job. Not good for the SEC. If Tee were currently working under Pete Carroll, I'd have a lot more faith in his ability to make the colossal leap.

Tee played for one and won a national championship under him.

His head coach is 26-9 with a Rose Bowl win and 2 10-win seasons.

110% agree with all these. The problem is how would he do coaching the team. That's the part he isn't ready for but under these circumstances maybe it's worth a shot.

He really doesn’t even have coordinator experience.

From what I’ve seen, he’s not even the sole play caller. He, Helton, and another guy all call plays.

You don't hire guys based on nostalgia and a bunch of feel good lollipop BS. Tee has had 2 years as an OC...that's not a comforting thought. We need to aim at our level, now because we just made our job harder to hire a new coach.

Elite recruiter. Has connections deep in the south and now California. Highly thought of and liked nationally.

Could bring in a good staff from usc and sec.

Hiring a HC is something where you can almost throw the resume out. It’s more about fit and traits. Butchs resume destroys Tees.

I think our pick was far better than being led on. The final 3 candidates were: Frost, Mullen, Schiano. All considered to be football minds. I think the main objective was to get an X’s and O’s Coach in here and screw the others.

That is our level right now.

Edit: after yesterday, were not getting a big name. It is what it is. Bring in Tee & let's ride.

Tee, day 1 is just as good or better game day coach as Butch.

Tee, day 1 recurits just as good or better as Butch.

Tee, year 3 is killing it.

It would need 3-4 years but hell, at this point why not?

50%, if not more, of being a successful college coach is recruiting and relating to young players. Tee would roll out of bed being of the best in the conference at doing that, and we'd get players, and he'd give them the ball (unlike our last HC). It's really not always that complicated.
