Tee has so little experience, he may not even be ready for a G5 HC gig, let alone Tennessee. He hasn't ever worked for a seasoned, successful HC ever, so he'd be learning almost everything on the job. Would be such a bad, bad hire, and firing him would be painful.

It's a huge risk for sure. But I think that if you get everyone at UT pulling in the same direction, good things might happen. Fulmer had never been a head coach either. Had minimal OC experience as well.

If it's Tee, I think you have to find a way to get Fulmer on staff in some capacity (non-coaching role). Analyst or adviser or something. At least for a couple of years. Tee would need someone he could bounce ideas off of who has been there, done that.

It's been said he didn't know about the penn state stuff. He signed off on him as a coach.
Don't blame him at all. Others should have shared that part

It was a sorry hire even if the guy never coached at PSU.

Dumpster diving right out of the gate. I think I’m more pissed that we seemingly had him 1 or 2 on our board. Tennessee can do better but won’t spend the money. We’d rather spend money on buildings and buyouts.

IMO... We are stuck with our next coach for at least 5 years regardless what happens on the field. Let Tee grow as a coach, he will have his ups and downs but it will be just what the program needs to have Tennessee blood back in the program. We know he will be able to recruit. Put some knowledgeable experienced coordinators around him and let's ****** go.

It makes sense. We have to get the good coordinators around him though.

Completely disagree.

How much HC experience did Kirby or Richt have prior to UGA?

How much coordinator experience did they have?

We all love Tee, but this program is bigger than one person. Tee isn't where he needs to be as a coordinator yet...and we're going to let him cut his teeth as a HC with our program?

You don't think Tee would surround himself with seasoned coaches?

I think he's put some thought into this.

He'll have every VFL at his disposal to learn from and I can guarantee our recruiting will be top notch.

Is it ideal? Hell no, but we were about to introduce Greg freaking Schiano.

That's why I would go with Venables. But if he's all that's left let's roll.

0% chance Tee would be a worse head coach than Butch was in any capacity, and Tee would recruit light years better and have a much better staff around him. He is a potential star coach down the road, and I'd rather have him here at UT than somewhere else like so many other VFL's. Give him a chance. It's a mutually beneficial situation given the state of our program right now.

Lol, this is a good point. I think Tee is already a better head coach than Dooley and Butch. Both of those guys just had some inexcusable flaws. He would also recruit better and likely develop/retain talent better.

This would be like Michigan hiring Jim Harbaugh in 2004 instead of San Diego State getting him. Just taking a massive risk on a guy with a lot of upside.

Honestly, Butch left the cupboard so bare no coach is winning more that 7-8 games next year.

Bring Tee home. Let him grow into the position.

#BringTeeHome

It is. That's why you insulate him with guys who know 100% what they're doing. Let him grow into the job in an environment where it would be tough for him to fail.

Make him what we hoped Butch Jones would be. Head recruiter and the face of the program.

I can see Tee being a Dabo type hire. Top notch recruiter but may need time to grow. Provide him with money and good assistants and hope he grows up quick.

Let him come in and figure it out. Shouldn’t be doing that with this program, but we need to give Tee 5 years to just chill and slowly build and restore.

The last time around, the fanbase doubted Tee could fill Peyton's shoes. We expected a down year. Then he turned around and showed us. Now some doubt he can fill the HC spot. Let's see what he comes up with this time.

Last time he was the most qualified person for the job

First of all Tee has orchestrated one of fhe top 25 offenses in the country at USC and almost every major category.

Secondly, our administration just tried to trot out GS. This job is not what some people imagine it to be right now. We are coming off Dooley and Jones and people would have a problem with Martin who is a successful coordinator?

Tee would recruit extremely well. If he can surround himself with a great staff he could be very successful. I am sure he would have Fulmer around as a mentor

I think it actually might be ideal. Tee was my pick at the very beginning of all of this but I talked myself into Mullen. I’m fully aboard the Tee hype train again. He’s the best young recruiter in the country and he knows Tennessee. He knows what it takes to win here. Give him Steele as his DC and let’s roll. This fan base will be united in a way that I don’t think we’ve seen in a long time. I think current players will respond to Tee exceptionally well too
