Paying a marginal hire big money with a backend buyout out of desperation would be the height of stupidity. That would be the last straw for me.

Yep. We need a coordinated effort on twitter. It needs to be a unified movement using one hashtag. If we get it to be the top trend on Twitter it could actually cause some movement behind the scenes to force the Haslams to back down

Haslams laugh at your twitter crusade.

I agree Ziti but my point is, I don't think he touches this job. You would have to pay him big money.

At this point they are either gonna come or they aren’t. If he won’t come for 4 he won’t come for 6. No reason to go that route.

We are gonna have to hire coordinator. That’s the way to go. Coordinator at a big time program. We can not take a risk on an up and comer from a mid major who isn’t being considered for big jobs right now.

If Currie is allowed to make the hire, I can't see them firing him. IMO Currie would go first, then a coach hired. I'd bet he's got the "support" to stay. A new coach coming in would most certainly ask how the AD stands long term before signing.

What are you arguing here? Hubbs owned info from Haslam, and was not completely truthful in the way he presented it to us, listing Schiano last in a list a few days ago. He’s balancing journalism, business, and access. He’s carrying water man no other way to interpret it. It’s ok if you really like him. I like the guy. He’s in a tough spot. So who put him in that position? Maybe that guy is a problem, and can free Hubbs to engage in unfettered journalism

This. Hubbs is doing the best he can for his business. Which is fine.

That’s how much power they have. It’s unreal.

They run the entire state and are happy to use the university as their personal playground to enrich themselves. Hell, they're going to make Bill the president of the university just to give him something to do.

I can't believe I wasted all that time seducing Big Jim. He doesn't even call any more.

If even Peyton is a Haslam lackey, then what can be done? Fans are powerless against the Haslams. We used our one veto.

Fulmer and Blackburn are the guys we need in charge, but they have no backing. Ergen doesn't care, and no one else matches Haslam money. And the university isn't going to bite the hand that feeds, especially on the academic side.

Gotta hope the mutiny is far reaching enough that the cost of keeping the Haslams is greater than not.

Hey man. Sorry about the Gruden thing. I know I rubbed you the wrong way. This hire needed to be massive to have a chance to be relevant again. I thought the power highs had finally seen the light, but unfortunately, the Haslams reign supreme somehow some way. We will be average for a very long time I’m afraid.

I apologize about Gruden. Shouldn’t have pushed that so hard. Just thought it was finally our time to make a big hire. I said over and over it didn’t have to be Gruden. There were at least 5 other coaches I would gladly roll with. No way was I accepting of Schiano, and I will sit back and wait if Brohm is hired. Not spending anymore money with another meh or ugh hire.

Once again, I’m sorry to all who I came in and pushed Gruden on. I thought it was really going to happen this time. Just want the best for our program, and I know we are at a point where we need a big hire. It’s very possible we are mediocre for another decade with another ugh hire.

No need to apologize. As many have said, most of us want Tennessee to be great. Nothing wrong with believing things can change.

that crusade just crushed their hire

Exactly. Yesterday was a big victory but it’s only temporary. We need to show the big donors that we are willing to back them if they stand up to the Haslams. Social media is so powerful and Tennessee has a massive presence on it. Let’s utilize it to save this program.
