Currie Releases Statement

Curry is a coward. He could at least be a man and take responsibility for his mistake

My email to UT President -

I am ashamed of AD John Currie, and the Athletic Department as a whole. Why we would subject the University, Students, Administration,
and Fans to the negativity resulting in another below average hire is beyond me. Not to mention the character chosen! With all of the sexual
accusations going on nationwide and throughout Politics, Hollywood, Penn. State, etc., highlighted by the media, why in God’s Name would he make
a choice like Schiano? We were one of the first teams to release our Coach this season, and we fail to score, again. Someone needs to remove their
head out of their ass, and step up and make this Program proud again.

John Currie, and anyone who thinks John Currie has done a great job in the search (and I mean GREAT job, because that is what we require at UT),
needs to be fired and sent packing.

Hire a REAL COACH! PLEASE!

If he was the top candidate the whole time, I don't think Currie can get the job done.

I honestly think they don't even care about success. Wouldn't they want to make money? You have to win to make money. Brohm would be a decent choice but the Tee offer is just pure BS in the fact that he only did it to please fans.

The fact they even have to make a statement on the matter is reason enough to pass. Good grief let someone else take him. Is there even anyone else interested in him?

Guy is a coward.

Can't face the media or the fans and puts out a lawyer written letter ?

We need Coach Fulmer and Blackburn to step in and run the AD

It's pretty clear how this all played out. We were never considering anyone else. An expensive, explosive hire? It was Schiano all along. Peterson, Gruden, Mullen, Leach, Kelly, Frost....all BS. We weren't late to the coaching search dance, we never made the damned trip! Now that everyone has their raise and all the other programs have made their hires, we sit here with slim pickings. No choice but to pick from a coordinator or lower level, up and comer type. Not another dime to support this program until we see commitment....true commitment to doing something real to get this program back where it needs to be. No donations, no season tickets, no merchandise, no nothing until we see results or better yet, a dissociation of the Haslam family from my alma mater and Currie on his way somewhere else. Wont mean a thing to UT, but it will make me feel better. Tired of throwing money at UT only to have them continually and without fail piss in my Cheerios and tell me I have to like it.

From Bruce Feldman....

Am told there's increasing pressure now from big-money #Vols boosters to force #Tennessee AD John Currie out in the wake of Sunday's news. UT source told me: "This is such a hot mess. Just when you think they’ve gotten out of the ditch. They’ve fallen into a much bigger one.”

Hopefully today! Get his ass out!

Exactly.

I'm not trying to defend Currie in the least (he has to go now), but this is 100% about defending the university against a possible defamation suit.

I'm sure he'll be compensated OTW out the door. Statement makes him look clueless though.

I think Schiano would've been a solid hire, I know I'm in the minority though. Currie should've stuck to his guns, now he looks bad from every angle. It'll be hard for him to recover any kind of reputation at UT now...

It would have been high entertainment to see what he had to say at the Quarterback Club today, especially if he had some salad thrown at him :ermm:

wow....so he is defending his decision...what a moron....I would like to know which players at Tampa Bay and Rutgers he spoke with. A simple google search tells you how the Tampa Bay players really felt about him...

When you screw up that big, there is no apology to get you out of it. All you've got is the double down.

this is 100% an attempt to not get sued by Schiano.

Not buying that. Schiano has no footing for any litigation. He was never an employee and he has too many skeletons in his closet to even make a stink. My guess is both parties realize they have a problem and mutually agreed to walk away and control the damage as best as possible.

Schiano files any legal actions his coaching career is over. At least at this point he has some chance of a HC job.
