I keep hearing ole miss wouldn’t take Pruitt bu I’ve also heard the NCAA is going to have some stiff penalities and that’s why he didn’t take it or they wouldn’t take him. Heard Luke loves ole miss and ole miss thinks he is stable enough to weather the storm coming.

Yeah no idea why he keeps saying ole miss didn't want him.... more likely the opposite. Nobody wants their first job to be potentially with sanctions

It's clear where Tennessee stands in the eyes of the media. Hasn't changed in 20+ years. Yesterday was just a trailer park frenzy from some racist ignorant spoiled fans who think they're still living in the 90s, of course.

The ole Chris Fowler generalization paradigm being pushed on us again... lazy people who push a soundbite rather than logic

All our UT top dogs do is perpetuate this BS with their BS decisions. Not that I really give a rip about what some useless talking head thinks about us. I'm glad we are the way we are.

To me it just continues to prove that being rich does not necessarily equal intelligence and common sense.

The over looking of Willie Taggart on this board is insane. Next season when he is knocking down another top class with more wins we will beg for him.

Would take him right now. Just really want Tee Martin. I’m not convinced Taggart is a great coach. Barton said the other day he’s a D+ coach.

My question to all of the national media types, with the testimony against Schiano would he have been a good hire for a daycare their kids were at?

We could be sitting here this morning with the new coach smell talking about recruiting.

Matt Campbell Willie Taggart would have jumped.

Yay

Listen, I love Cut and would take him in a heartbeat. But if he's not okay with Tee coming in as OC then it's a tough sell. And he wouldn't be okay with it - forcing a staff on him was the reason he didn't take the job in 2010. Cut wouldn't be able to recruit well enough because I don't think recruits would believe he'd be here their 4 full years.

I don't see why not. Saban will be 68 by the time next season rolls around and Synder (who I think comes back) will be 79 age is just a number if you love what you do. Cut is about 3 years younger than Saban but to be fair, he did have triple by-pass surgery back in 2005. If he wants to come here I'm for it but I have to think his health and the fact he'll go down as the most successful Duke FB coach ever may give him pause.

Hey guys I'm just throwing this out there

I will take the job for 1 million a year. We will run the triple option.

I'm looking for a DC for around 500k. I would rather have a 34 guy, anybody up for the job?

Bass I want you as the recruting coordinator

1) Did we ever actually interview anyone else or even contact to gauge interest from coaches such as Frost, Petersen, Mullen, etc.?
2) Kind of a follow up to the first question, Has Schiano been the pick the whole time?
3) Do you think this was mostly on Currie or mostly a Haslem choice or both?
4) Is there some kind of split in the Athletic Department right now and between boosters? Meaning one side was duped into thinking this search was going a completely different direction than it went?
5) Is Currie and/or the Haslems that out of touch with the pulse of the fans that they thought this was ever be a good idea? Even if you take the Penn state stuff out of the equation, I think there would have been plenty of uproar on this hire from a fit and coaching standpoint
6) What is each of you guys personal opinion on the hire if it would have went through? From a coaching standpoint, fit, perception and if you thought TN could have done better?

-Hubbs

This annoys me:

5. I think what enhanced the anger regarding him outside of Penn State was the fact that for so long everyone was on the Gruden train that many thought was becoming a reality

For me and the folks I have talked with, it was the PSU connection - PERIOD. Yes, the Gruden stuff should have been handled differently, but UT should NEVER have any association with that reprehensible time period at PSU.

Apparently Pruitt was pushing for the Ole Miss job. Just what I hear from connected Ole Miss football people. Could be wrong.
