Chris Low: it's almost over final 3 candidates

He doesn't know. No one does. This report says Mullen, that one Campbell. Another Peterson, another Leach. Read another article that says Schiano.

Currie doing his job and keeping it close to the vest. Good for him. Let's just hope it's a solid hire.

It being so quite could point to Campbell. He doesn’t have an agent, which I’d imagine would help keep things from leaking

If it's really Schiano, it's going to be the worst hire in the history of this university. Worse than Dooley (at least you could pretend there was upside w/ Dooley). Terrifying to think he's being seriously considered.

His role in the Sandusky affair should disqualify him as is, but even ignoring that, his track record mostly consists of being a mediocre Big East coach who could recruit well. We already had that with Butch Jones w/o the ethical overhang of hiring a guy who protected Sandusky in order to further his own career. Not to even mention the fact that he's been a rather lousy DC at Ohio State. And he was known as one of the worst NFL coaches of all-time by a lot of knowledgeable people. Why even fire Butch Jones if you're going to downgrade to Greg Schiano?

He may be right by accident on the Mullen guess, but I think he's dead wrong to have Campbell on the list.

9.5 mil buyout paid upfront for an unproven guy, no way Currie sticks his neck out that far

If we're willing to pay $9.5 buyout, then give that $9.5 to Gruden as signing bonus, and move on down the road.

Can we drop the pedo references. Plenty of reasons not to like him as a coach without trying to destroy him with a refuted allegation. Tampa hired him, pretty sure their investigators vetted him and saw no basis to the allegations.

Mullen is the only one that is acceptable on that list.

If this is what they are doing why not Just Hire Fulmer with Tee as Oc and coach "to be"in Two years. Keep Rg on offense and fire all the rest. It's not ideal but beats the hell out of plan "C".

If that truly is Curries list he needs to be fired. Mullen would be my 3rd choice if we can’t get Gruden or Petersen.

He is exceptionally lazy (as are most). 247 reported last night that Schiano was not a candidate for multiple reasons, just like other reporters he has been kept in the dark and gets his info from chat boards.

This makes sense. 👍

Agree...if GS is anything more than a smoke screen, have to seriously question if UTAD will get this right. I'll just tune out and stop wasting my Saturdays...wife will be happy.

You guys are nuts...
That list is very solid for a mid-tier SEC program like Tennessee.
I just can’t see Mullens making a parallel move but I hope I am wrong. He’s our ceiling.

2 will bring credibility/stability. Maybe not in the title conversation yet, but we're kidding ourselves if we think we're close anyways.

No to Schiano.

Right now I'd take a Mullen who gets us 9 or 10 wins consistently, a couple East titles and would stomach an occasional 8 win transitional season. He'll get us back to consistently actually being IN games that we should lose and we'll beat who we should. Maybe with the resources and recruiting tools, he wins more than we expect.

Campbell is creating his own thing at ISU. Not the same as Butch. ISU is not a decent program. And he has em winning vs quality opponents. Different than Butch at Cincy. And maybe he's the next big thing.

Refuted? Of course he "refuted" it, but I tend to trust the guy who testified under oath and was willing to destroy his career to get the truth out (McQueary) than the guy who was desperately trying to advance his career (Schiano). The dude absolutely should not be the face of the University of Tennessee.

While I am tired of hearing the "I'm done with Tennessee football if we hire anyone other than Gruden" posts, I am done with Tennessee if we hire Schiano. No way I can support that scumbag. If we hire a subpar Tier 4 guy (like say Mike Bobo), I'm still 100% behind our Vols even if I'm extremely disappointed by the hire. Schiano is a different beast to me. Easily the worst hire the university could make. Shouldn't even be on the list.

Bring Kiffin back before hiring Schiano.
