Who's Still Being Considered as HC?

Campbell or Brohm if it were up to me.

Ditto, if we strike out with grand slam names out there. No way we pass on names like Gruden, Franklin, Peterson, or any of the NFL names that have been thrown around. If none of those, I believe there is high risk/high reward with any one of Campbell, Brohm, and Norvell. Any of those guys could do really well here. IMHO. GO VOLS!!!

It would be poetic to see Florida whiff on their top two candidates. And while I'm not bought in to Kelly, the irony of him potentially coming here over Florida and then not get frost.... It'd be funny. 😁

Both great coaches. I have a hard time accepting Franklin would leave PSU, and there is a massive buyout for Jimbo.

I don't know. Franklin might not like the PSU Sandusky stuff still hanging over the place. I know they've "overcome" that in a big way...but there is still the lingering stench and he may want out...despite the success he's had there.

You say "we" in reference to the Vols..but you have the Auburn logo as your avatar. I'm confused.

Will John Currie hire a candidate that no one is mentioning?
Did Currie fly to Chicago? Madison, Wisconsin is nearby, Paul Chryst?

Frost would be a great hire, as well as Peterson and Campbell. Hope this circus ends soon.

Just say no to Mullen. He should not even be on our list.

If it gets that bad bring Lane home.

Please let Mike Leech be our next coach, bring John Chavis back home as DC. I'll take "3rd & Chavis" over whatever the heck we have put on the field ever since... (Read article tonight saying he is definitely open to "coming home" under right circumstances... )

If you disagree, please say who is a better HC (REALISTIC OPTION,GTFO with Stoops, Gruden, Chip Kelly, Jimbo Fisher, they ain't coming here) and who they should bring as DC. OBVIOUSLY Mike Leech installs the Air-Raid so include your pick for OC as well.

Such a cop out to disagree without giving a "better option".

I've seen a million posts but nary a solid word on who might be a top target or in negotiations--some vague references to Mullen and Peterson and Schiano, but almost no hard info on anybody.

Chris Petersen
Jonathan Smith OC

I want to think he gets Steele as DC but he may keep one of his to eventually run the 3-4.

Petersen has never had a losing season... And only has 3 of less than 11 wins. He is .821 life time..... And has gotten Washington back on track since he took over 4 years ago. His teams have been ranked in every season but 1...... An have finished inside the top 11, 6 out of 11 seasons.... And they are 9-2 right now.

Leach is .607 lifetime and has had just 1 season of over 9 wins. Over 15 years his teams have finished 12th once...... Never higher...... And in the top 20 4 times out of 15 seasons.

Leach is a good coach but not near the coach Petersen is.

I am All Vol and always have been. Someone on this site chose to give me that avatar simply because I liked Bruce Pearl when he was here. I hated to see Bruce go at the time. The basketball Vols were rolling, then. I, like many others saw Bruce's release being detrimental to our program. I gave my opinion. I guess someone with editing power didn't like it. I was born in Knoxville, live in the area, and have been a Vol my whole life. I rarely missed a home game for 18 seasons, 16 of which, I worked part time there. Oh well. It is what it is. Go Vols anyway!

I really think Lane Kiffin is better than anyone left on the board except Frost. I know were not hiring him again however he is a coach that could get the program towards the top of the league.

Probably someone like Jeremy Bates. Played at UT. Worked for both Jon Gruden and Pete Carroll. Had been with the Bears, now with the Jets. Currie's trips to Seattle, Chicago, Tampa, etc. could all be for background checking on Bates.

I've got to give a morning rant here, WHY are people calling for Greg Schiano?? I get that he did great at Rutgers, but did he really do that great? 68-67 is not really a record worth bragging about. Not to mention that he really only had one amazing season, every other one was essentially subpar for equivalent Power 5 teams. Furthermore, his time at Tampa was even worse. Now, I know that's comparing apples to oranges, mainly because a lot of great college coaches couldn't cut it in the NFL, but when you look at their college records, at least they did/are doing great in college! Schiano? Not really. If he was that great, would he really come back to college as a coordinator and not a HC? I just can't get behind Schiano. If we fired Butch only to replace him with Schiano, then we clearly have not fixed the problems we've been having with our ADs lately. I'm not big on Frost either, mainly because he's still too green for me, but I would much rather have him at the helm than a Butch Jones with NFL experience that we'd be getting with Schiano.

Only one poster wants Schiano. Literally one.

If it's indeed the pedophile enabling failed NFL schiano ... I will be turning in my VFL card and my $ will be spent elsewhere

So best coaches in the east were once sought after coordinators, Kirby and Muschamp. I know Muschamp failed at FL, but to he went to be a coordinator at Auburn. Would you rather hire a proven SEC OC/DC like Pruitt, Venables, or Matt Canada, over a Norvell, Schiano, Durkin, Schiano?

Agree 100%. He is a throwback coach that will not be able to connect with this generation of superstar kids. Recruiting will tank. He ranks as one of the worst NFL coaches of all time. Better than average position or coordinator but no way a head coach of P5 program. If we get to B list best hire will be Norvell IMO but Arkansas I bet has him locked up

Not my choice at all. I am hoping we don't even consider him.
