I would like to be the first to officially congratulate Dan Mullen on his 5th place finish in the SEC West. Great program building in year 9. #HailState
I hear ya. The truth is, though, there are really few guarantees, if any. The Bielema (sp?) hire comes to mind at Arkansas. That seemed like a great hire at the time, and look how it turned out. Not so good. Georgia fired Richt, and he now has Miami in the playoff. I like Frost and Campbell, but they're both risks. The only almost guarantees are probably Patterson and Peterson, but will they come? People were high on Fuente, but since he's lost a couple games people have cooled off on him.
Mullen is probably the safest hire with the highest floor. Who knows where his ceiling would be at UT?
Well with the reports of some on here that were willing to go as high as 10-12mil/year for the right coach I see no reason to make a risky hire. Money talks and some big time coach would take that money. So I say go to every power 5 coach that has won a National championship or at least conference championship and make them say no.
You no doubt was a huge CBJ supporter, cause that was an answer we heard over and over

Again, what bothers me is there was no backup plan when the starting quarterback went down. If you're competing in football against teams like we have in the SEC you have to have someone there who has had some reps to make a game work when you have a key player out. That is poor planning and we have seen that before at Tennessee. It is good that they tried to make a comeback, but at the end of the day they still lost to an inferior team. And what makes it worse is that if they had had better coaching and planning then they wouldn't have had to.
