Recruiting Forum Football Talk XLV

I know someone already commented on this, but there was a video that went viral of him talking to his team after the TCU win where he said something along the lines of “I don’t give a a s*** about 6-6! 6-6 is for bulls*** programs!”

So he either allows cussing or is a hypocrite I guess

Maybe he was thinking of someone else. Pj fleck?

So you don't think if MS St had better resources and tradition, that he could win more games? Especially if MS St was in a far easier division?

Nope. I think he is who he is. A guy who can so 8-9 games and in a special year get you to 10. He's not a guy who will win you a national championship.

Dan Mullen is maxed out right now at Miss State.

So basically Mississippi State's max is our max.

There is such thing as context with any coach.

Confirmed. If you don't get surgery...you're screwed. If you get surgery...it's quite possible you're screwed even more.

He was joking, cause babyvol said there would be an announcement this Tuesday after moving the date a few times. And, no, I don't think its the original babyvol. Some have supposedly vouched for him, but I just think somebody took that name.

IDK if this is the same Babyvol or not. But I can absolutely say the old Baby knew his stuff. In the end, he ended up being wrong on Gruden in 2012, but revelations since then verify he was only wrong because of a twist at the end.

Hey, that happens. I've told people I was changing jobs, had the job lined up, only to have to backtrack because of something unforeseen. If it can happen at my measly level it can sure happen at that level.

No, msu is at their max. Huge difference. Dan Mullen is already their greatest coach of all time. Their second best is a guy who had a .500 record lol.

Tennessee isn't MSU. You can only take a program so high before you hit the ceiling

It's mind blowing that people can't contextualize something so simple. The ceiling at MSU is not the same as the ceiling at Tennessee.

The fact that he's reached the ceiling for that school or any P5 school is evidence for hiring him, not against hiring him.

Jave.... check this video out.

I know you mentioned being tired of coaches that harp on trusting the process. But when a coach truly believes in it and truly lives it out it's kind of a beautiful thing. We never got a sincere moment of honesty and inspiration like this from Butch. His process was all talk. He proved that over time.

The more I learn about Matt Campbell the more I think he could be the one.

But sure, I guess Gruden would be cool too if we're still on that.

Ya, Campbell isn't on the level of butch or Fleck when it comes to being disingenuous. But he has that cliché machine humming, and after butch I just can't handle it. I'd still be happy with him, but he's down my list because of that stuff.

Thanks for posting.

Adding the plane to my list...

I still have a ton of things lining up that make me believe.

I 100% believe Catbone. I believe he was here this week. And he was here unseen. Unlike the South Carolina game where he strutted around town being a boss.

LWS confirmed that he was in East TN the week of the So Miss game. Supposedly this was predicted by Hutch 7. If it was him that said it would have then that gives credence to Hutch and the things he has said.

Gruden showed up on campus this year for a game which has never happened.

The announcement isn’t coming until 11/26 at the earliest imo. No matter who we target and ultimately hire. I think it will be Gruden on 11/28. Until then we will get misdirection and denials. Also Gruden gave the “sensitive to coaches doing their job” comment. No hire til after the season is over.

I believe that Gruden bought that house. Nobody even knew that house was on the market and then we hear he bought it. Hank brought that here before I saw it anywhere. Days before it spread as I recall.

If you believe the report by 247 then he did that interview and brought up UT after hearing our pitch. He asked to not be asked about coaching vacancies and then brings up how much he loves rocky top.

Espn is going to have to cut his pay.

He said on Eisen show that his contract is not guaranteed. You know what is? A coaching contract.

He has a huge ego and college coaches are rock stars. In the NFL, the players are the stars.

His wife is from here and his son goes to school here.

He’s been around this program more in the past 5 years than ever before.

Timing is right for him this time.

UT knows it has to go big this time. $340m renovation on deck and it’s not getting done with a mosquito hire.

Dale Jones FB post - 10.3 mile run

Hutch says we are getting a new plane. Low and behold or plane is in the shop and Hubbs is checking on the university getting a new plane cause he’s found out their old one needs replaced.

I agree. Everything says it's Gruden.

My only disagreement would be the day of the announcement.

I think it'll be Dec. 2nd-3rd. If Gruden is looking to hire Tee Martin and Kevin Steele as coordinators, then it makes sense for us to wait until the championship games since it's likely USC and Auburn will be playing for conference titles. Gruden probably doesn't want Tee and Kevin Steele getting asked the week of the championship games whether they are joining his staff.

Plus leaking the hire on Dec. 2nd and having the formal press conference on the 3rd allows us to own the sports cycle during the SEC Championship Game and the reveal of the final playoff rankings. It just makes sense.

I honestly don't think Mullen is coming here. I wish this conversation would go away. I do think he would do well here. But in general I think he loves MS State too much to leave them to go to another SEC school. Miami, maybe. Something like that down the road perhaps. But not Tennessee. It's dirty. Tuberville doing it was dirty and Ole Miss fans still hate him. Mullen doesn't want to do that to State fans who love him so much. If he wanted to badly leave State he would have done it years ago. Even though most of you can't believe it, I think he loves it there and loves being the underdog and building that program up.

All I would ask anyone to do is flip the rosters in the Miss St/Bama game this year. What do you think the outcome would have been if Mullen had Bama’s players and Saban had Miss St’s? The answer is pretty easy, Mullen would have waxed Saban. He outcoached Saban in that game and has previously. Coaching results are always situational.

Frost was coached either by or under Bill Walsh,Tom Osborne, Chip Kelly, Bill Parcells, Bill Belichick, and Jon Gruden.

His offensive mind would excel here.
