Timing seems strange. Why not just wait one more week looking at their situation. Is Sexton just working on a bidding war to up UFs ante?

It could be that simple. But again why throw this turmoil in now with one winnable game remaining to get bowl eligible? The USC game is indeed their benchmark game but why throw the baby out with the bathwater at this point? There are a few other dead man walking coaches waiting till the season ends to get their pink slips.

Not saying you’re wrong I honestly don’t know. I just don’t see why this makes sense now unless it’s being orchestrated.

Well, if its a screen shot of twitter it must be true. I also saw screen shots of twitter saying Gruden to UT is a done deal, so the east is looking up.

I’m always skeptical when sources keep kicking the can down the road on these potential coaching hires. UT fans have had Gruden’s imminent hire kicked down the road for years.

Now, it seems to be happening with Kelly to Florida. I heard it would happen last Friday, then by Sunday, then Monday and now “after the FSU game.”

Even today, inside sources such as Pat Dooley and Zach Abolverdi are saying they believe Kelly will be the coach at Florida, but nobody has any idea when. So, I’ll just dismiss it until it happens.

Im not freaking out, but I think UF has got him -- I never checked UCLAs roster, but imo if they dont have anything returning or any decent recruits, Kelly wont take the job there

Buddy Martin is a Gainesville legend. Among his many accomplishments, he co-wrote Urban Meyer and Steve Spurrier’s books. I trust him more than just about any local media in Gainesville. Plus, he hustles his ass off. He’s gotta be in his 70’s and he was running around at Ocala Airport last night at midnight staking out Stricklin’s plane and bringing it to everyone on FB Live. He actually got the Stricklin quotes that were used all over the place today. The other lazy-ass Gainesville hacks made fun of him as they laid on their couches and followed Twitter all night looking for updates from him and others.

Chippie knows he can win easier at UCLA, all you have to do is get to the final 4. That's a pretty good incentive.

And he finished top 4 in final polls three out of 4 years at Oregon

Still think it's 50/50 plenty of positives to UF job over UCLA

Live in SoCal vs Gainesville...biggest hurdle to playoffs is typically USC vs Bama... He already knows the PAC-10...Pressure aint anywhere close to what he'd experience in Florida = better job security...

But I still believe he'll go to the gators, UT needs to make a power move, and quit hoping the Gators, UGA, and Bama all go into rebuilding mode...at the same time

Gonna be an interesting choice.

UF more money, would field a better team than he would get at UCLA

UCLA more familiar, and yet while he wouldnt get as much talent there as he could at UF, easier job to get to the final 4, IMO.

IDK about the talent thing. California has plenty of stars too. UCLA hasn't had a superstar to recruit there like UF has had in the past.

right now I would say UF is tied for third in Florida this season. I would say that is where UCLA probably falls too. both start winning they can both move up. top dogs aren't really nailed in place just yet. And with as many people believing Gruden could bring in classes of 5 & 4 stars on name alone, so could Kelly at UCLA.

UCLA has recruited as well and arguably better than Florida in the last 4 years.
