Are we wasting time even thinking of Gruden coming to Knoxville? I think we should just face facts, move on to the next, and concentrate on that person (or two or three people), and throw all of our resources into that.

I think Gruden is either playing around, getting his name out there for advertising dollars, or maneuvering for an NFL offer.

See the link from his broadcasting partner.

ESPN broadcaster Sean McDonough on partner Jon Gruden: 'He's not going to Tennessee'

I know this is probably a merge waiting to happen. :)

That's the zeitgeist (sp?) dude.. mike Griffith called it this morning.. this whole thing is an interesting study in psychology.. when we look back a few weeks from now the picture will be clearer

The fact that gruden himself hasn't put the rumors to sleep is interesting.. they're not gonna announce anything before the candy game

All this time we have to ponder and look what is happening to us... lol.. it's weird

Yes, please, let’s be done with the fantasy.

OP right. Gruden is the hot cheerleader who gets a kick out of the guy wanting to carry her books. she'll go to prom with, and marry someone else, and mess up his life instead of his.

Currie has said not to believe anything unless you hear it from him. I still trust him to hire a top coach (not a google name) that we all can get behind. It may be Gruden or it may be a top coordinator. VN was the same for the last football coaching search. Sports commentators and journalists jobs are to talk and write sports. They have no idea who Currie is looking at. I have names I think are possibilities, and give reasons why they may want to be here, but they are just names I want. It doesn't bother me, I actually enjoy reading most of the opinions. With the season shot there isn't anything better to talk about. Oh, Petersen, Fuente, Fisher, Frost

Why doesn’t Jon just say it then?

Because the actual convinced Grudenites won't believe it even if he did. Why comment on unicorns pulling Santa's sleigh this Christmas rather than Blitzen, Rudolph, and the gang?? One poster last night, posted he would remain unconvinced even if Gruden said he was not taking the job. Then you have the other wackjobs already implementing their 6010th conspiracy theory about why Jon is actually playing his role not saying one way or the other in conjunction with the boosters and Currie.

Jon Gruden knows what media pundits know as he is one, it's been his vocation for about the last ten years. The only bad pr is no pr. He loves people keeping his name in their mouths.

Absolutely not time to move on. He seemed so distracted and emotionally absent during the broadcast tonight. Maybe he has decided to pull the trigger.

That's the screwy thing about this whole deal. Logic says it makes no sense, yet nobody is denying anything.

Same thing in 2012. He will never say no but wont say yes either. His agent will/has told Currie imo.

I'd guess the no has already been delivered. With an early signing period and a team getting shelled on a weekly basis, seems like there'd be no reason to delay positive news right now if there was any. At the very least, leaks would be happening.

Gruden is just building his brand by sitting back and not commenting.

JG wants the publicity. The “media” wants the clickbait. And the fans want the myth. This isn’t hard to figure out.

I think you're right, but it's a little amazing how the lid has stayed on this from the booster/AD end. I think in my mind I habitually treat this as if Gruden has a current coaching job and is doing the regular dance, but that's not the case. He's not even working in the same field really. He can wait forever and has zero incentive to comment.

He has said no. People just don't want to accept it
