So it was a 3-day ban? Good on you to be back.

Jon Gruden was announced as Tennessee's head football coach the day before yesterday.

He named Tee Martin and Dale Jones as his coordinators, with Tee Martin also carrying the "assistant head coach" title (and presumptive head coach-in-waiting, though that wasn't said aloud).

He noted that he and Peyton Manning will hold an elite 7-on-7 academy this next summer, from early June to the end of July, and only Tennessee, MTSU, and St Cecelia's football players are invited. As an event much along the lines of the Nike camps, this does not count as practice, and does not violate any NCAA by-laws.

Finally, he bought out all the Hooters in the state of Tennessee, making all the previous owners instant millionaires, and declared that Saturdays are "eat and drink free if you wear orange" days during every football season.

Other than that, no, you didn't miss much. Been pretty quiet.

But I posted over a week ago that I know first-hand that he bought a house in Knoxville. And yesterday I learned from a reliable source that he has applied for membership in a popular country club in Knoxville. Maybe he just plans to live there and not coach in Knoxville, but I have gone from giving this less than 1% probability to about 40%. If he is moving to Knoxville, that likely means he is not planning to coach in the NFL next year.”

Currie should be immediately on the hot seat if he hires someone like Mullen. Mullen has a career .605 winning percentage, is 33-38 against SEC opponents, and is 2-15 against ranked opponents. A hire like that would signal that they are content being a mid to low tier SEC team, not a program trying to get back on top. This would hardly be a hire worth all of the efforts that have apprarently been going on. If Gruden says no, there are much better options than Mullen.

I thought it was a good question. Maybe somebody is more knowledgeable but I think it is hard to say. He says that he maintains an offense and is constantly changing it as the game changes, but I don't know that anybody has seen it and I have never heard him talk about it in detail.

Thanks, that's my take as well. Wondered if there was information or insights I was missing.

Edit: I realized that yearning for a coach when I don't even know what offense he'll run makes me a wee bit uncomfortable. Oh well...

That's my understanding, but I'd have no way to know.

I understood that under Dickie, when Wade Huston was here they stopped this process because they would not allow Wade the same opportunity to join because he was Black. If memory serves me right.
