Unfortunately it's the same with everything anymore. I like hearing different opinions and discussing them. You never know when you can learn something new

There are very few coaches out there that do not fit the "underwhelming" hire title.

Mullen is a good coach. Someone compared him to Franklin. The difference between Franklin and Mullen is Franklin sustained Vandy's success for more than 1 season. It wasn't hit or miss like Mullen. Even if Mullen is a better coach than Butch, he isn't a championship calibre coach. Assistant yes, coach no.

Patterson, Marrone, Peterson, Harbaugh, Dantonio, and Shaw are the only ones that would keep me watching and interested in UT football. I'm sure there are some others that I'm not aware of but I would have to do some research.

Anyone else and I'm like 'Boro, I'm out.

That's why I'm staying emotionally detached from this search. I'm not riding this roller coaster until Currie proves he gives a crap and delivers what he promised.

We can all be pretty sure that Currie knows in his mind that if he bungles this hire his career as UT AD will be over before it really got started. If he has the pride of UT like he says he does or like we think he does, then he's not going to fool around and play it loose.

I'm 100% on the Gruden train but think about this for a second.

You're John Currie and you call a press conference to announce the new head coach at Tennessee.

Can you imagine the reception you would get if it's not Gruden? I wouldn't even want to think about it. If Gruden is not in the bag by now, I doubt you would be getting any sleep at night.

The next coach, if not Gruden, better have some really thick skin because UT fans are gonna wear him out :):):)

It will have to be someone we did not expect or even consider, yet be a very big name.

Becuase to many people like to "troll" to get a rise out of others. It kills any chance of having an adult conversation.

Josh and Will actually just said "There are Boosters telling media members that Gruden is a done deal". I thought most at the animal were steadfast on it is ridiculous thinking he would come here.

Quick question..
When this all does finally start to go down...They will put out a press release naming the new head coach before the actual press conference right? I just have a hard time believing they call a presser and drop the surprise there. Surely, they've got to announce it in a press release the day before or something, right? I can't remember how the last several have gone, but I do believe it was announced a day or two before the actual presser where the new coach came out and introduced themselves.

Yeah as Anti-Gruden has the local media has been, that’s an interesting development. Are they saying boosters they trust/rely on for sources or just “boosters”? i.e. they’re reading this forum

I agree 100%. If I've been disagreeable or disrespectful, I apologize; it's never my intent (save a couple of deserving posters).
