Remember what Currie said: This Hire will be ”Big, Expensive and Explosive”

That statement automatically rules out some of the names that have been going around.

❌ Mullen
❌ Frost
❌ Gundy
❌ Norvell
❌ Campbell
❌ Schiano

Some of the above names meet 1 or 2 of those criteria, but none meet all 3. The only candidates who would meet all 3 (that we know of) are:

✅ Gruden
✅ Patterson
✅ Kelly
✅ Harbaugh

You can debate me all you want about the top group but there’s no way any of them meet all 3 criteria... Someone like Frost may be explosive, but he’s definitely not big or expensive. Mullen would be expensive if we gave him a raise from what he makes at State (4.5), but he’s not big and in no way explosive. Gundy = Same as Mullen. Norvell = Same as Frost. Campbell and Schiano = none of the above.

Does it make sense to announce Gruden, if the deal is done, before the Vandy game for recruiting purposes?...or does his name alone guarantee recruits for early announcements no matter when/if he's announced as HC?

Almost agree except I think Gundy would be an awesome hire who could win big here.

I would put him in the “Big, expensive, explosive” category.

Ok. I want you to really think about this and answer. Would the University troll us-but not intentionally? Maybe they were trying to create a stir, to build up this story of Jon and VFL’s coming home, but it has gotten out of hand? They’ve underestimated the hunger Vol fans for relevancy? And they are on damage aka time control?
