I feel like I'm walking on eggshells myself. Jimmy often gets info from Raja Jubran, who uses him to take certain info mainstream. If it comes straight from Raja, it's generally reliable.

Kinda was my guess but it was only a guess.
After the reaction here, I checked more national media for even general remarks about UT, Gruden and so on. What you and his source have said, does make some sense.
It's being discussed nationally more than I realized and of course agents will work that. And some coaches will be a little turned off.

Not sure why Tennessee, Florida and Georgia could all take similar actions and only TN be featured negatively but it does seem to be the case.

Sorry, I had brought it up earlier because Jimmy Hyams had mentioned about the two coaches. But I pretty much just got him crucified lol.
Along with myself to a much smaller degree.
I know it's Jimmy but I still felt bad. Poor guy didn't do anything. He literally just repeated what he was told, it wasn't his comment. I was just thanking you for discussing it without being upset with a reporter.

Jimmy's problem is not because he said this. It is because he comes across in real life as a pompous jerk who thinks the fans at UT are ignorant and beneath him. It has nothing to do with anything you post or have posted in the past.

Maybe I misinterpreted the post. But he made it sound like others were saying Currie is being "lazy".

If so, I apologize Ron. I'm just tired of people in the media and fans bashing the man when he has done nothing but do his job to this point. The baseball hire was handled really well. People were all over the place and he did it quietly and made a really good hire, I think.

So once again, didn't mean to sound combative, my apologies Ron

Hindsight is 20 20 so I will wait until this hire is complete before having a negative view of Currie. So far has been so good except he waited to long to fire Jones. But he may have had good reason to do that. Time will tell. After the hire, I may be negative but if his guy gets results, he will be proven thru those results. Results are how all of us are judged in relation to our jobs regardless of our lot in life. You have always been a good poster and this is how I knew you didn't understand what Ron's meaning actually was. However, if Curries doesn't have success, he will be judged harshly and the football hire can override anything else done well very quickly. :hi:

I'm fascinated with how agents and different coaches react to differing circumstances. Learned today that Fuente is really uncomfortable with a large media following. Guess VT makes more sense for him than a job like UT etc..

One reason would be that he still has obligations that keep him from full time Recruiting so he would need a staff in place to do this for him. He or anyone else can't announce current college coaches until their seasons are over.

Yeah, if someone told me I could pay $100 bucks and Jon Gruden would be our coach, I would do in a heartbeat.

So why not bet 100 bucks? Either he is and I lose $100 bucks (big deal), or he isn't and I get $100.

I do. Agents are opportunistic, and it makes us vulnerable in negotiations. I think we'll have to pay more to get a good coach-- and even worse, I think we'll have to give in on terms that we adamantly oppose.

And I think he made those comments, because he knew exactly who he was going to hire.
