Official Gruden Thread 38

My takeaways from Atlanta's post:

1. Anytime you have a contract, or are working toward a contract, there are 2 sides, each with their own issues and timeline. It's much easier for us to speculate on Currie's timeline. From what I've heard, and what others have brought to this board, Currie wants to make the right move and wants it to happen sooner or later. But for Gruden (or ANY candidate) there are issues they have with respect to a timeline. We don't really know what those issues are with Gruden. The obvious hurdles would be MNF and ESPN, his endorsements, and his assistant coaching staff. But we simply don't know what those things are and how they effect the timeline.

2. For anyone to come on here and claim to have the answers or exact timeline is pretty foolish. It's fine to speculate and guess, but the more people who come in and drop lines like "Tune in around 4 tomorrow afternoon" or "Make sure your phone is charged on Monday" the more this forum gets whipped into a frenzy. Don't hang on any one person's every word. It's clear there's a very tight circle, and may not be very many people at all beyond Currie, who really know what's going on.

Be patient and enjoy the holidays. We will find out when we're supposed to. And I think we'll all be very happy when that day comes! :p

While this is obvious to some, nice translation for those who don’t understand it.

I have to say AV's post even if not intentioned too put some folks Gruden flame out. Certainly not mine, I never heard him say Gruden said no. I took it is his timeline was different. But folks are going to form their own opinion. I will say I can't believe he hasn't put it out if he wasn't going to take it. I'm still believe Gruden to the VOLS! SOON!

To me it's sounding more and more like the problem has not been the efforts of Hart and Currie but more that Gruden loves flirting and seeing what people thinks he is worth.

Im calling that this ends just like 2012 and our fans end up hating whoever the next coach is because it's not Jon Gruden. If nothing else the AD should come out and say "Jon Gruden has been contacted and we have met all demands but he keeps uping the stakes" which sounds to be true! This puts the pressure on Gruden to **** or get off the pot!

I wouldn't hate the next hire just because it's not Gruden as long as it's a top tier proven coach. I would be somewhat disappointed, but I wouldn't hate them. You give me another google coach, then I won't spend another dime on UT football.

Greg Schiano? Come on now, Currie has to know that hiring him is not going to get the fans excited

At this point the AD has allowed any hire to be terrible in the fans eyes unless it's Gruden....

They are creating a frenzy they can't stop because everything has had to be so hush hush!

Difficult to imagine it isn't better to go ahead and be transparent which I think the fans would respect. As for Gruden's opinion of that approach, who cares, our number one priority is Tennessee and if he doesn't respect that not sure he is the one to make Tennessee a Champion once again.

I read his follow up differently. We are likely gonna end up with Plan B which he is comfortable with but not all will be....aka....the Gruden or bust camp.

There is a clear plan and a clear plan beyond that first plan all of which I am comfortable with...all won’t be but we know what they say about opinions.

I’m prepared to wait and see. But expect this has been the last run at Gruden.
