I honestly have a hard time wrapping my head around a coach out there that names have been brought up that would be a good long haul hire for us..
Recent History of Tennessee Hiring Timing
Lane Kiffin was announced on Monday, December 1st, 2008.
Derek Dooley was announced on Friday, January 15th, 2010.
Butch Jones was announced on Friday, December 7th, 2012.
I understand the timing is different this year with the early signing period and the number of coaching searches likely to be going on.
But I would expect a Friday announcement after the Vanderbilt game if I had to guess.
Just my opinion.
Has the house purchase ever really been confirmed? And, I don't mean someone said or a friend I trust. If they closed on a house there would be a public record that I have yet to see.
I agree unless it's Fisher or Patterson. Absolutely do not understand the love fest for Mullen who is making 4.5 mill to have a losing SEC Record and only I year before this one who has better than a 500 SEC Record in any year. Frost and Norvell are unproven at the HC level plus Frost probably ends up at Nebraska and Norvell at Arky if it opens up. He and his wife both have strong ties to the state. Definitely no coordinators who have never been HC's. Don't wanna touch Kelly or Petrino for obvious reasons. If we go young Brohm would be my top choice out of all the names mentioned but he's not a HR hire but more proven than Norvell and Frost. I actually like DJ Durkin but he falls in the unproven category and he's had worse luck with QB injuries than anyone I can ever remember. But his strength is recruiting and coached under Meyer at Florida. But he's only in his 2nd year and has a losing record overall. Then Strong,Taggart and Morris are big hell no's. Les Miles would be a safer option than anyone outside of Gruden,Fisher and Patterson. Just don't trust his offense and ability to develop QB's. He would need to bring in an elite OC who can develop QB's or hire a QB Coach who could. I agree with you atleast the majority of the names aren't HR hires and could potentially have us back in this position in 5 years. I don't envy Currie at all. Just hoping it's Gruden and if not then one of Patterson or Fisher.
