Yea I really hope this VFL dream team is just bogus because that gives me major pause on his judgement of coaches.

I don’t think he’s contacted all these guys that are rumored. My guess is he’s contacted Dale Jones and Randy Sanders along with Dave Blackburn. All of those guys crossed paths with Gruden in Knoxville.

I don’t buy Jay Graham, Tee Martin. No connection there and Tee is not coming back here right now IMO. He doesn’t make sense as Gruden’s OC.

A lot of this stuff takes off because of one rumor ending up getting reported by a legit outlet. Then the fake insiders start coming up with similar stories.

Dale Jones and David Blackburn got mentioned by basilio and Brice reported it shortly after. Piggy backers start throwing stuff at the wall after that. “Tee Martin has been contacted” is just copy cat fake insider crap.

All JMO.

The only people I trust are ones like Invol, Baldy and Beecher. Close enough to have an idea of the targets and no outlandish claims of every behind the scenes meeting.

Now one that I’ve missed is Baldy. What has he said recently? I thought he went dark, or had a mental episode in which he posted under the pretense that he was his wife?

I know a big part of our fanbase is all over Gruden's nuts, but no one really knows if he could win championships here. If we offered that much for Gruden, I'd say we made a big mistake when we hired our AD and we have idiots for boosters.

It’s about time they became idiots and changed the direction of the program from where it’s been the last decade.

We'll see. If they hire him, and that's a big if, I'll support this team no matter what. If he's no better then 8-4 in a few years, I will rail on you Grudenites mercilessly. If he is the savior, I have no problem admitting I was wrong. I think it's a risky hire.

Forgot to add, if they don't hire him after you Grudenites were so sure, I will rail on you as well.

So basically ... you're an ass hole either way :whistling:

Agreed. He hasn't grown up at all. He's coaching in a kid's league right now. I think he has the Xs and Os ability to be successful, but his personality holds him back. He'll never command the respect of a locker room for long because he still thinks of himself as being the same age/mindset as the kids he's coaching.

Quick way to endear yourself to them in the beginning, and a quick way to lose their respect.

Right on the money. I won’t be surprised if he gets another chance to coach a P5 program in the future, but I will be surprised if doesn’t fall flat on his face. I’m looking forward to it.

Nah, he was just understandably fed up.
Basically said the main rumored coaches are in play. Thats not earth shattering but entirely realistic and a good sign for us actually trying for a real coach.
I'll take that!

Something in me feels Malzahn to Arkansas one day.

Arkansas did Malzahn dirty when he was there, and I don't think Auburn has done anything to sour that relationship yet. But maybe the constant murminging about him being on the hot-seat has gotten him frustrated

This guy:

"The savior of Tennessee football, Jon Gruden is coming."

This guy is exactly what’s wrong with people in general if a UT fan. No fun kill joys with no hope. Try to have a positive attitude and maybe you can have some success in life. And success isn’t necessarily only about money.

I think Auburn beats Bama this year. Bama hasn't been tested all year.

The first part of your sentence negates every other point you made. The fanbase would go absolutely NUTS if we got Gruden. Absolutely no doubt in my mind money, recruits and national attention would flood into Knoxville on a scale we've never seen. Regardless of whether we win a title, it would show the world we're ready to play big boy college football and would set program up extremely well long-term. The effect would more than pay for itself. Just look at Bama. The AD and boosters apparently know this and are chasing it.

I just have insurmountable doubts that we'll get him in the end, in light of all the naysayers in the national media and the uncertainty about whether he really wants to coach college.

I still think we land on a good hire though. Fun to watch!

Since Saban Bama’s enrollment went from 19k to 38k and mostly out of state students. Do the math.

Miserable little puss here. Nothing to see.

I'm 5. "Don't think he's coming, but would love it if he did and am having fun watching the show!"

You don’t think he is coming and have that opinion which is fine. But you don’t come on here acting like an idiot about it. Understand your doubts but thank you for posting like you do about it unlike so many others.

I think it’s a done deal but not getting announced until after Vandy.

Until then this thing is going to be teased out in the media.
