I don't think Albright is going to scoop our coaching search-- but the news is not a happy one when you think the alternative.. Gruden would have to be trolling when he asked the Seattle guy not to talk about coaching searches and then talks about Knoxville/Rockytop in an interview up in the corner of the Northwest..

I do not want Florida to get Chip Kelly. If we were offering Gruden that kind of money, why not somebody equal to him (or him???)

Gruden might not get hired but to deny this is a real situation is insane.

Exactly. I don't know why it's so hard for people to understand that you can turn down a job at one time and then later want to accept it. Its possible that Gruden was interested in 2012 but for whatever reason he backed out. And now the interest is even more real and he's no longer got any qualms about the job and ain't backing out.

Its possible to change your mind 5 years later. I've turned down a job before that a few years later I would accept if offered again.

Its sad that the players know the standard at Tennessee but Butch Jones doesn't.

That dude was always trying to act like wins and losses weren't what matterred. That instead we were suppose to praise him regardless of results in the games.

I think we are about to see how the whole thing played out with Gruden and TN via slow leaking of information, but it won’t come from someone like Hubbs, the mouthpiece of the AD. Remember that info usually is leaked that’s old. We think it just happened, but it had happened days in advance. Also remember LWS said a while ago that Gruden has turned us down twice. They are trying to buy time, because we don’t want to announce Gruden with 2 games left. So what do they do...start leaking info of what happened.

Gruden and TN are talking...Looks like Gruden has said no (where we are now). This all occurred while Butch was still coach, and we didn’t know.

Next thing we hear is TN is trying again to make a new pitch (roller coaster going up)...Another leak that Gruden has denied again. This will probably get us to the first part of next week. This also occurred while Butch was still the coach.

Then we hear that TN is making one last desperation attempt (another roller coaster, but this is the granddaddy of them all). Planes are going everywhere...Currie will not take No for an answer. Now, an “official offer” has been made. Waiting on a decision from Gruden. This part of it is what has occurred this past week or so. Wednesday was the pivotal day. It is going to be portrayed as Gruden said no, but in reality, it helps start the leaking of info for how the whole deal went down. He signed on Wednesday, IMO.

They will string along leaking of info to take us until after Vandy game, and then Gruden will be announced.

He is the trusted source for the common fan. The average fan gets their UT news from 990 in the pm. And Jimmy is easily manipulated.

Hence Jimmy is adamant there was no meeting in Tampa. Meanwhile 247 is reporting there was and Hubbs is in the TAC air parking lot.

They might also think with all the leaks so far there is no way this can stay hidden for long.

It has never happened that way and it won’t start with UT.

The game will swallow up coverage for the weekend. Then thanksgiving next week. They can sit on it til the 28th easily.

Also I am convinced Trey Wallace is a twitter reporter. He is watching message boards and twitter and parroting news as soon as he sees it and acting like he knows. He knows nothing.

I think you jump to these conclusions a little too early man. So when Wallace said on the radio that he actually spoke with a coach who said he was contacted by Gruden to possibly join his staff at UT that’s all just made up? Prove it.

Would you be this sure if “our guy” was Gary Kubiak? Bc they have a very similar resume and coach similar. Just one wasn’t on TV.

Gruden has a swagger and charisma that is made for college football. Beyond Xs and Os, he would kill in recruiting because of his presence and stature. Then when you consider his connections, the staff would be top notch. After that he just needs to not be incompetent.

Jon Gruden is unmatched IMO when it comes to the type of charisma and character that would be a hit in recruiting. Kids across the country are gonna want to play for him. I know I would if I was a big recruit.

Its like the text he referenced in a post that he's spent 36 hours trying to walk back. He doesn't just reference texts from random slappys. I would think he doesn't run to the airport to stake out a private terminal just on message board rumors.

So even now when he’s acting like Gruden turned us down I don’t believe him either. I think he saw the tweet by Benjamin Albright.

Announce before Nov 25th and you create massive hype, but would it be healthy or fair for the current team and coaches? I don't think so. Just seems like standard protocol to wait to announce until after the last regular season game.

AD and/or Gruden’s camp needed more time and less pressure and scrutiny, hence last night's reports.

Still believing it's him until proven otherwise.

I don’t see (ESPECIALLY randy sanders who is currently employed) anyone’s potential assistant coach immediately telling people that they are being asked about working on a staff. Why go out of your way to leak info from your head coach? That would be a lack of trust red flag.

I know a lot of y’all disagree, but I really think Hubbs was doing exactly what he explained that he was doing when he referenced that “message” — he was just citing one example of all the rumors he’s hearing by way of preface to saying that he couldn’t confirm any of it. People totally misread that quote from Hubbs.

And he didn’t stake out the airport based “just on message board rumors” — but it might have been just based on the Brice/Ramey report.

I get that feeling as well. It's the timing of what he posts.

I think he's very good at quickly finding and rephrasing message board and Twitter rumors into a neat little package for his followers.
