My guess is the conversation went something like " Gary , the "fine people" of Tennessee want and have wanted Gruden for over a decade. We are going to try to give it to them if at all possible so those seats don't start emptying out. However, in the somewhat likely event that he isn't willing , YOU are my #1 and I guarantee you would be a very acceptable 2nd choice for Volnation. I will make sure that you have a mountain of cash to wipe you and your next 3 generations asses with. Can we get on board with that?

This^^^^^. I do think that Currie has spoken to other coaches and I dont put much stock in the Gruden claims at all. Gruden will not be the coach. Currie is well organized and working his tail off on getting the right coach here.

You might want to take this to a different thread because here in the Official Jon Gruden Thread 35 we will be talking about rumors involving the alleged pursuit of Jon Gruden to be the next head football coach at the University of Tennessee. If this upsets you that so many of us are discussing this and having a bit of fun, may I suggest one of the other coaching threads available in the football forum section here on Volnation.com?
