Hargis - "Needless to say, the national coaching site reports were nothing more than click bait. Anyone who thinks Gruden isn't a viable option for UT has no clue what they're talking about and obviously hasn't spoken with anyone who actually does know anything."

I'm an OG. I was here in '12. I believe Gruden is the best path for UT and have great hope that he will actually take the job and mop up the SEC with it.

That doesn't change the fact that there are very juvenile posts from both sides. As a long-standing member of the Grumors community on VN I'll post my opinion that the close minded, juvenile mindset and posts would be better left out of it.

so why would he take a NCAA job, if a NFL team comes courting?

Because the college game is better than the pro game right now! And there are not many high profile superstars in NFL coaching, like there are in the college ranks!
In the NFL, the players are the stars. In college, it is the coaches, for the most part!

SEC has already cleared him per the FL reports

its only a phone call, not like a big court ordeal, they call and say i want this guy, Sankey goes ok cool its your program deal with the consequences if any, and done.....over rated excuse to not hire him, though i believe he is best suited outside the SEC, personally.

Kelly to Florida is the only hire I don’t want. Hopefully UCLA will have an opening and hire Kelly.

I don't understand Vols' fascination with who Florida hires.

Florida has a bad coach - they beat us every year
Florida has a good coach - they beat us every year

Florida has less talent - they beat us
Florida has more talent - they whip us

see the theme here?

Jon Gruden discusses speculation on possible return to coaching

I would like to see one shred of evidence that JG was on campus yesterday or hear from ANY reputable media person that backs up the "claims" of so called internet media board experts.

Was ready to commit to it, one way or the other. Believing or not has no direct effect on my life. Believing feels better.

Worst case scenario in believing and it not happening is a few asshats rubbing it in. Lulz, I can handle it. :)

of course....same

(and only folks rubbing it in would be here, all my buddies with rivals are just as caught up in this as we are, honestly)

I think. Again think, we want the east to be the best conference in football again. Adding coaches who are winners only will make it happen again. But we will be the Beast from the East again...

Gruden has been rumored to be at the top of Tennessee's list of potential head coaches to replace Butch Jones, who was fired Sunday morning, and Blackburn said he does not think the courtship is over, as some have reported.

"He and I communicate from time to time," said Blackburn. "I would definitely think he's a viable option. He's a guy who loves coaching and loves Tennessee. Our history is probably the reason we get along so well, my dad was a coach in a small town and Jon is a rural Ohio guy whose dad was a coach, so we're just two good ol' boys who like to talk football.

"I can't sit here and say he will take it if offered, but I do think he would listen. Tennessee is like home for him and he'd be a great fit."
