Official Jon Gruden Thread 34

Sad little blind sheep. How do you know? Blind faith is all you have

You know what else we have? Free will. That allows us to choose where we want to be and how we use our attributes.

You don’t believe or support getting Gruden. Exercise your free will and leave. It seems like it’s time for you to move on to another thread.

You may support the Vols but you don’t support those who want Gruden. So, all you’re doing is stirring the pot for attention.

Buckle up buttercup. The rollercoaster is about to leave the station in Gruden land.

Yep, that's a bubble.

Look, we're all UT fans. People like you and this "community" are dividing us because you "want" to believe something else is going to happen. Who attacks their own fan base over such pettiness

I tried to go down this road yesterday (I lost my patience pretty fast, so my bad), it is not worth it. Just let it go, because it is falling on deaf ears. Go read the 2012 Cliff Notes and compare it to this for a good laugh, but leave them be.

The Grude News, the morning edition. For those just joining us...

Ladies and gentlemen...and Gator fans lurking. This is a public advisory this update will go to 11. I repeat, hide yo kids, hide yo wife, we all getting Gruden up in here.

What an interesting 24 hours it's been. Highs, lows and everything in between. We have been invaded by the trolls out there drumming for attention and some have been giving it to them. Just ignore them, press on and they go away. Chances are, they don't even check what's been posted and just say stuff to get a rise out of folks. Otherwise, plenty of confidence out there and plenty of "SOON!" and "GRUDEN TO THE HILL!" to amuse us in the meantime.

Babyavi dropped another complete "all in, 100%, announcement to be made soon" post on TOS. He's going way out there with support.

Swain, love ya guy, but you flip flop more than a coeds shoes on spring break. All in until you're all out, bud.

Boro continues to be confident, but guarded. Not that, again, we blame him.

It was reported today from an alleged friend of Gruden's that he has never entertained the Tennessee job and he allegedly heard it straight from the Grude Man himself. Not sure I believe that since there is far, far, far more smoke this time than I ever saw in 2012. And allegedly, Gruden was on campus as reported by more than a few folks today, including...Catbone?

Can someone check this fact? Catbone? Really? He's trolling, right? Confirmed through others? No way it was Catbone. He had to have been hacked or something...

And we got a visit from Atlanta Vol.

<silence>

Who gave free tickets to the LSU game to veterans and their families. Didn't say much else except he's been busy and he has to respect the "process" that's going on in the AD at the moment. His silence speaks far more than he intended as well as that little quip. Also, ClearWaterVol and Sara chipped in their tickets as well. To the both of you, as a veteran, my hat is off to you, good sirs and ma'am. I'm proud you're a part of this family of Vols.

I believe Wikipedia hates Vol fans any time we do a coaching search. For the 284,453rd time, Gruden has been named our head coach on his page. And for the 284, 544th time, someone changed it back. But it's always good for a laugh thinking of the poor person who sighs seeing the change made yet again.

I don't know who MCBM is on TOS, but he seems to be bringing a lot, I mean a LOT of info on this hire. Basically stated Gruden has agreed in principle to be the coach and has been interviewing prospective staff. Including allegedly Randy Sanders and David Blackburn for compliance.

Poster checkthetape posted a bomb last night. Kind of apologetic in nature, but stated without a doubt Gruden to the Hill. And apologized to Beaver whom he had stated in the past was not worthy of attention. To be that public in an apology is a big deal.

Even DTO weighed in and said the next week would be "fun" and he thought the announcement would come Vandy week. However, said a lot of misinformation would come out in the time in between.

I typically try to toss a bit more humor into these things, but a lot of nuggets out there in the past 24 hours. And the thread is moving so fast, even NASA is trying to figure out how to contain it for a new form of propulsion. Shoot, even Freak took time from his busy schedule of counting clicks and grinning like Currie at a press conference to visit us last night.

Good grief, the hits just keep on coming. Poster OrangePill stated he had a conversation with a BOT member who stated the deal was all but done except a few things here and there. No specific names, but an MOU was signed in Asheville (cue Beaver grinning) and the fine print is being worked out. Also said Patterson is our backup plan.

That announcement promptly removed a few hundred sets of pants and set an unofficial streaking record for Vol fans.

And Atlanta made a return appearance which caused every other set of pants to be removed by saying: "Tomorrow will prove to be a pivotal day in the hunt for red October." Exact meaning unknown, but hell, I feel it was made with some great intentions. And the streaking record was broken a mere hours after it had been set once before. As a fan base, we do not disappoint.

And why has this coaching search brought some seriously long time registered, but zero time posting posters out of hiding? Bubba and Orange Appeal being two obvious choices. Beaver seems to be the new kid on the block, but still registered a long time ago.

Boro chimed in with his "relax" comment once again. I feel like Frankie is subtly telling us something that I so wildly don't want to take out of context...

I'm probably missing a whole hoop of stuff, but dang, I've given enough in this update to give a complete and massive Grude on to even the most ardent Gruden opposition out there.

No "in other news today" just strictly business.

From the entire Volnation News Team, I'm Grand Vol and I'm exhausted.

***EDITORS CHOICE TO ADD THIS BREAKING CONTENT***

Credit to TNwalker for the exact quote from the Mike and Mike Show this morning. The interviewed Gruden and asked about Tennessee. The answer?

Gruden:

"Well you know Mike, I haven't talked to anybody and all I really have in my life is my family and football - that's about it. And, uh, I'm real sensitive to the coaches that are out there coaching so I don't speculate.

I just love football. I'm trying to hang on to the job I have. I'm very fortunate to be with the people I'm with. Uh, I don't know what's gonna happen in the future - I just know this: I'm gonna continue to give my best effort to the game ... stay prepared and uh ... I love Monday Night Football. Don't plan on leaving, but as you know in life, you never say never to nothin'."

yes...if he was truly gonna live in Knoxville and be a nice caring knoxville resident...then he would have put this UT thing to bed a long time ago. No way he can live in Ktown and and be well respected if he bails on UT at this point.

Plausible deniability folks. I swear some of you are worse than my ex wife.

He gave the answer you wanted to hear. Plausible deniability offers him his OUT if something happens, and it want hurt ego, image or anything. It was the answer I was hoping to hear. He wasn't ever going to say .... Oh, yes I am thinking about it in these exact words.

If he wasn't looking, thinking, contemplating it .... He would just answer NO like '12. It's all good.

It's the community in here telling others to GTFO and being rude just because everyone don't believe the same thing. It's a 2 watt street. I got no problems with you, your a good guy and always level headed. But some of these folks are just blatantly bat****

Yeah, I understand that.

But the GTFO and STFU bits aren't really meant in a hurtful way. They seem crazy harsh to folks who just join the thread, until you research the history of the community that resides here.

And I'm serious, there are a lot of good people in this thread who I'd NEVER seen before a couple of weeks ago. People who have a lot more time on VN.com than me. It's like discovering an entire tribe on an isolated island in the middle of the Pacific, like whoa! How'd they get here.

And just like any meeting of two cultures, their ways are different than, say, the football forum. On one side, they're some of the nicest people you could possibly want to meet. Real salt of the earth folks with interesting insights and great senses of humor. On the other side, they're really quick to throw spears and shoot arrows at people who come in as "invaders," who try to force outside viewpoints on them.

So anyway, guess all I'm saying is, take a minute to get to know folks here, and I think you'll find that they don't mean to be nearly as rude to you as you thought--they are only responding to what they perceive as hostility with canned responses of their own.

One thing is for certain: the climate, the camaraderie here are far better on the whole than in the wider football forum community.

It's a culture thing. Get to know them. You'll see.

No, it's somebody that didn't wanna play the game standing on the sidelines yelling at the ones who did. You just sound sad doing it. Nobody asked you to be here.

Don’t jobs in Tennessee have to be posted for 10 days or something like that?

Technically if Jon Gruden said he was in talks with Tennessee only 2 days after Butch was fired, couldn’t that get Tennessee in trouble or something like that?

Seems like I read that once.

NO, No and no. Been hashed hundreds of times since '12

Agree. Wrong stage.
Wrong time.
Needs to be done for maximum effect for greater exposure.
I would do Friday so it steals Florida’s thunder from Thursday and will be the absolute buzz over the weekend. Then bring him out during the LSU game for an encore.

My grude-on is begging you to slow down.

We are also at the point...that if Currie does not get this right...he will get totally BBQed! I would like to think he is a smart man and is ready to shock the world with Gruden. Because if its Mike Bobo....gee, I cant even imagine...

Yet you come in here calling people sheep for holding out hope for a certain head coach.

Get outta here with that double talking nonsense.

83, man, I'm fairly confident you're going to be the one proven wrong in the end.

But in the meantime, why so hostile? Why the "sheep" and "bubbles" insults?

Look, what other people believe has no negative impact on what you believe. So discuss and debate, sure, but don't get upset when others don't share your viewpoint.

And when Gruden is introduced as the head coach of Tennessee football, we do expect you'll sit down and eat the plate of crow you will have so richly earned. :)

Go Vols!

In his/her defense, one could ask:

"Why the hostility toward differing opinions and refusal to allow dissenting discussion, on a messageboard platform that's built on the concept of discussion?

Wouldn't the "bubble" claim be proven out by those in here that literally say, "Don't disagree. Agree or GT_O"?

You may need to turn that chastising attitude on your fellow countrymen in the Grumors threads.

No its a contract job....those rules do not apply.

I predict someone with the Times Free Press loses their job today. Probably whoever it was that fired the beave when he worked there. The mighty beave gets his revenge.
