You thought he would announce it on Mike and Mike? What a hoser you are. He could've said I have no interest in the UT job. He did not quash the rumors. That is what reasonable people were looking for not an announcement. It is his decision. That is where things are at.

I remember the 2012 interview well. I checked out of the Gruden thread that day. It was a definitive no. I believed he wasn't coming. That interview was entirely different. I'm still not 100%, but my confidence went way up.

I have my doubts just like most, but if he was 100% not coming he would've said so. They asked him in '12 and he said no, he could've done the same today.

Even if he said that, nothing would change in here because people would have just pointed out Saban said no about the Alabama job and Harbaugh said no about the Michigan job.

Jan 4, 2007 ESPN Saban article in pertinent part:

"Alabama lured Saban from the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday, ending five weeks of denials and two days of deliberation. Saban, who two weeks ago declared "I'm not going to be the Alabama coach," accepted the Tide's job offer job and abandoned his attempt to rebuild the Dolphins after only two seasons."

Even if the ink were dry on a Gruden deal, the deal would not be confirmed on Mike and Mike at 7:30 in the morning.

This is not to say that there is a deal in place between Tennessee and Gruden but the interview doesn't mean anything.
