Makes sense. I just can’t get over the difference in how far along this is according to everything we know. If Beav and his associates are right, boosters like Ergen have been involved for awhile. In my mind you don’t get this far without having Gruden on lock unless you are doing business with UT but it doesn’t have anything to do with the football coach.

Then there’s news articles saying Grude said no or that he’s not calling people. There’s hurdles, roadblocks according to posters. Radio differing wildly. Something isn’t right.

If you add the pros and cons of each, there’s more pros than cons.

I think the holdups are last minute ironing out of details and has to do with timing. That’s what I’m going with. Yup. I think. Maybe. I don’t know.

I find it a little hard to believe that with all the hints that are dropping around that the Gruden hiring is just BS.

Can you confirm whether the issue/issues that will either be resolved or not resolved tomorrow are related to my post below? Also, can you add anything to my info?

A member of the BOT whom I have a business relationship with stated the following. He never said the name Gruden, but did say the name Patterson in reference to the backup plan.

• They said that the AD believes they have their man but there are still a few small obstacles.
• No contract has been officially signed, however an MoU was written and agreed upon on 11/3, and was signed on 11/12 during a meeting in Asheville.
• There are a few small issues that are currently being worked out. These issues have less to do with UT, and more to do with the coach in question.
• The coach has certain expectations for his staff and if he can't meet them then the AD feels like he will back out. This seems to be a major concern.
• BOT member said there is one issue regarding his contract but wouldn't go into detail and I didn't push. They made it seem like it's a recent development in the past 1-2 days.
• I asked and they said they think 2 assistants are being kept by the new coach.
• If anything falls through with this coach then the AD will pursue Patterson.
• They said Currie met with Patterson face to face recently and "it was positive".

It sounds like Gruden will make his decision tomorrow. Hopefully UT has done absolutely everything in its power to make this happen, given him everything he has asked for and basically told him we want you to be our coach. What's it going to take for you to sign?

Well it does depend on what Gruden actually wants. For example, if he told Currie hey I want a staff full of NFL assistants or I am not coming, then thats just not feasible.

Even if Gruden isnt hired, the names being floated around as other choices, Patterson, make me feel confident that we are getting a good coach.
