Maybe they knew the numbers would drop, potentially significantly, if Butch was back next season. With the "hope" a new HC brings maybe they're trying to keep the numbers up, any way they can.
from what ive heard it isnt much they have to go thru with the office, they call Sankey and say hey we wanna hire this guy he goes "well its your program" and its done......to much being put into the ncaa thing, its a non factor in this hire imho as it regards to kelly and wherever he may land
We're all beginning to realize Swain doesn't really know much more than the rest of us. And he falls for the Ron Swanson thing the same way we did.
But he is right about one thing. Maybe it's time some of you move on, emotionally, from this rollercoaster. It's not healthy for you. I'm confident Gruden will be the coach, and have it from trustworthy people. But you can't hang on every tweet, riddle and comment on this message board.

I didn't explain it the best:
The guy who told me, his dad coached with Dale Jones at UT and on the Parma team (international?). He texted him on Sunday asking him about if he had been contacted by anyone (Sunday) - he said no.
Then on Monday (same timing as swain story and other stuff leaking), he asked again and was told gruden had reached out to Dale Jones to join UT staff, and that his girlfriend was posting stuff on her Facebook she had to take down about being excited to come back to UT and Knoxville.
Once again, not a troll, I know who told me this info, not super insider stuff just a coincidence I know the kid who's dad coached with Dale before.
Not trolling, check my posts about VPearson and the assault

He's not out. He overstepped saying that about Gruden (see below) so now he's backtracking to cover his derriere!Swain is out. That's NOT good.

"Swain, 'Jon Gruden is putting together a Vol-heavy staff. It doesn't mean that Gruden is going to sign. But he's definitely putting together a Vol-heavy staff.'"

Gruden to the Bucs...well on to Plan B
Bucs reporter believes Jon Gruden will return to coach team | Larry Brown Sports
I think (Dirk) Koetters got seven weeks to prove that this team is still buying what hes selling, Kaufman said. The stands are half empty, and theres a guy out there that has a lot of juice and can fill those stands. Im starting to believe it for the first time, that Grudens coming back.
Kaufman listed several reasons why he believes Gruden may finally be ready to leave his broadcasting gig with ESPN. One of them is that Gruden supposedly does not have the same passion for announcing games as he did when he was working alongside Mike Tirico, who is a close friend.
Gruden admitted over the summer that he misses coaching, and the former quarterback has been hosting his own QB camp with top NFL prospects for several years at ESPN, so he might enjoy working with Jameis Winston. Kaufman also noted that Gruden could have his son Duece Gruden, who currently works as a strength coach for Grudens brother Jay with the Washington Redskins, on his staff if he became a head coach again.
