For sure...could mean a lot of things but could obviously be nothing. Just really strange timing. Not sure why you wouldn’t just wait u til the hire was announced...unless you were trying to avoid a rush of donation inquiries all at one time?

I get that but I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw his weird @$$.He gets way too much credit when it comes to him being an elite coach. He just isn't one in my opinion. He was only a HC 4 years at Oregon and left Oregon in a mess when he left. We now see why he was in a hurry to get out of Oregon. His small body of work and success was based on what Mike Belotti helped build. Chip wasn't there long enough to see what he could do with recruiting classes he signed. I'm not saying he couldn't be one of the best coach's or elite but the body of work is very limited. Hell 4 of his losses were OOC to Boise,LSU,Auburn and Ohio St. So he had his chance to coach against the big boys and lost most of them. And I'm not sure how well he could recruit the south. He's not very personable and he's like Mike Leach.. weird as hell.

The guy who told me, his dad coached with Dale Jones at UT and on the Parma team (international?). He texted him on Sunday asking him about if he had been contacted by anyone (Sunday) - he said no.

Then on Monday (same timing as swain story and other stuff leaking), he asked again and was told gruden had reached out to Dale Jones to join UT staff, and that his girlfriend was posting stuff on her Facebook she had to take down about being excited to come back to UT and Knoxville.

Once again, not a troll, I know who told me this info, not super insider stuff just a coincidence I know the kid who's dad coached with Dale before.

I don’t think you are trolling but if he had been contacted I am inclined to think he would not tell anyone outside of a couple people. I would know and at this point I have no information that says he has been spoken to. Not saying that it 100% has not happened but I like my chances of knowing. :)

you're probably right, but it's easy to say when you "have it from trustworthy people." not being mean, just saying ...

He's not out. He overstepped saying that about Gruden (see below) so now he's backtracking to cover his derriere!

"Swain, 'Jon Gruden is putting together a Vol-heavy staff. It doesn't mean that Gruden is going to sign. But he's definitely putting together a Vol-heavy staff.'"

If one reads the footballscoop article, it honestly doesn't make much sense at all and contradicts everything that people around here are hearing. Not buying it.

Just refreshed Swain's twitter feed - just commenting about a minute ago, he says based on info he's heard today and Football Scoop insight, thinks it's time to move on. Gruden likes the attention.

I hope this is just a smokescreen :thud:

It appears Swain doesn't know jack.

But then he just clarified "based on what I was told today and the footballscoop article. One thing we know: Gruden loves the attention."

Doesn't sound like a vote of confidence at all.

Kaufman also noted that Gruden could have his son Duece Gruden, who currently works as a strength coach for Gruden’s brother Jay with the Washington Redskins, on his staff if he became a head coach again.

Lol..That is one place he won't end up coaching. He will absolutely not coach in Tampa again. Not to mention he will be the Vols next HC 🤣😁
