Plus you have to think...Gruden loves Tennessee, if it were all BS he would have squashed the rumors quickly in my opinion. I don't see him letting this play out and piss of the fanbase toward the next coach should it not be him.

If Gruden doesnt come then all is not lost, you are correct. Especially if Currie hires a great coach and we start winning at a high level in a few years. Winning cures everything. Even if that happens, there will still be some fans who will be in the what could have been with Gruden camp. ButI believe most wont be.

It is like the chicken/egg question.

Does the media believe Gruden is interested or is there so much hype that they have to bait UT fans?

I tend to think most of the Gruden leaning media is for the latter.

Either way, we just need a quality HC that takes this program back into the Top 10 and a reasonable shot at the playoffs most years. That is a lot to ask, but it is UT.

If you look at what he actually said:

"it won’t be hours until a decision will be made, but it will be days" - Currie to Martinez​

If you take that literally, it could mean within a few days. Why else would he compare hours to days? He could have easily said "a few weeks" but he didn't... He said "days".

I’ll believe it when I see. Gruden likes to flirt and tease. It’s more serious this time than ever before though. He’s making calls to ppl about joining him at Tennessee. He still needs to accept the offer

Maybe beaver's job was to prep the masses and create the fever pitch , or grand smoke and mirrors campaign, to heighten the demand for Gruden so fans wouldn't know he was obtained in a less than traditional means. Not that Gruden isn't willing. I think he wants to be our coach.

Yes. I've understood the beav's role and bubba's role, but I feel that we've been given way more info than required. And these people don't do anything without purpose. What is that purpose?
