Frost nor Kelly would want Tn job but one will be in Florida.

TN will get next tier if Brohm or Norvell

Florida is a mess. We are ahead & Florida will not have first choice.

This kind of stuff makes me want to punch somebody in the throat. I'm getting puking sick of playing second fiddle to the Gators.

Even before the rise of Miami, Tennessee was close to equal. With Miami taking over the state, UF is a 3rd level job in their own state. Tennessee high school Talent is exploding. No way UF gets first pick over UT, especially the way UF just treated their previous coach.

As I said, if Gruden isn’t going to be the guy, I think that will be clear by end of day next Monday regardless. I just don’t see why or how it would string out past that if he’s not the guy.

If he is the guy, I guess I could be persuaded that it might wait until after Vandy (there are plenty of reasons to do that), but I just think it would be sooner. Currie is obviously trying to keep recruits in the fold and telling them he will make a great hire soon. That loses credibility as the days pass unless it just becomes an open secret... but if it’s an open secret, why wait?

I have no idea why I am watching. I knew that TN would be the talk of the day, and now it is like a car wreck, I can't look away.

I can't wait until Currie proves them wrong and he and all the other bama fans, and the other fans in the SEC crap their pants when big Jon Gruden is standing at the podium.

I would love to know if there has ever been coach hired before the regular season was over. Like I said even when Meyer was hired at Ohio State they waited. Which was a close comparable situation. I can't think of any coach being hired before games were over.

Gruden has not accepted the job. He is vetting staff members to be able 5o have a better understanding of whether or not he would be able to do the job effectively. Currie is pushing for an answer either way. We could get it this week.

Florida is going to hire Frost. I understand Chip Kelly's name is circulating there right now but I'm not buying it. He's waiting for a job with less pressure but with comparable pay.

Tennessee will try to reach an agreement with Mullen quickly if Gruden turns us down. They will be willing to pay well over market value to do so. If he declines, they will go to Chad Morris (or a mystery candidate that comes out of nowhere like Kacy Rodgers).

After thinking about it, I don't buy Taggart as a realistic candidate. We may get to him in the search eventually, but I don't see Tennessee giving him a big enough raise to entice him to come to this rebuilding situation over the Oregon job he's currently got a year's worth of work in.

Very good post. Makes a lot of sense. It would line up with why Currie isn’t going to be doing a lot until later in the week. He is waiting for Gruden to give him an answer. Let’s hope it’s a positive answer.
