I don't think he would necessarily have to be signed for B to be true.. He could just be calling around to see if the people he wants would be on board...

Like: "Hey, IF I were to take this TN job, would you be interested in joining my staff?"

bear in mind, Gruden has the reputation of being serious, ethical, and very professional at all times about work --

that does not fit your hypothetical casual phone call, especially if it's someone he wouldn't know personally.

To me it's the same amount of work. You recruit college players in the offseason. Figure out new schemes, hire coaches fire coaches, release players etc etc

The NFL guys that win are 3am to 11pm workday guys. It's amazing the amount of hours they put in.

Why be just another NFL coach when you can be a legend at Tennessee with the likes of Neyland, Majors, Fulmer, Wyatt, Manning, White, etc....Gruden!
