2 things I took from the presser.

1-Currie is a professional,never bad mouthed Butch and would not let the press put the rumor of Butch contacting players on Butch. Sounded to me the he was helping Butch land a job.

2- We have our coach already and it's going to be glorious when it's announced

Not sure about him, but I've been in it for ten years and military prior to that. I'm telling you, I have no sources and it's purely my speculation, but Currie certainly looked like a confident guy up there today. There was zero "deer in the headlights" to him today. He's got something up his sleeve for sure.

Having been involved in C-Suite hiring at Fortune 50 companies there are only 2 reasons you don’t hire a search firm:

1. You are so confident in your own networking ability that you feel a search firm is a waste of money.
2. You have at least 1 candidate already committed that you are excited about.

Lots of things can go wrong with #1 - worst case your efforts fail and you waste a lot of time and end up having to hire a search firm. That risk would be too great in UT’s current situation.

Which leaves us with #2. I firmly believe that’s where we are. Don’t know who it is, but I do believe Currie already has at least 1 big fish on the hook.

I did not expect anything in Currie's PC, but I was uneasy about how he answered some things, but I know it is a big decision for the program. It does put some doubt to some things we have been hearing on here though. Specifically when he said he just decided to fire Butch late last night.

The AD was attempting, wanting to make, and have a positive public view of Butch Jones to simply be "marketable" which would lessen the buyout. It backfired against Missouri and now Jones looks less marketable. Jones has been fired since the UGA loss if not after UF.

The stalking horse could be used in a few different ways. It could be misdirection, or it could be as we hope.

Edit: I'm going with the later, MIT is the stalking horse.
