I disagree with this. It will be an INCREDIBLE coaching job getting us to 8 or 9 wins.

I posted this below a page back-- we are really behind and need to catch up from a coaching perspective... more so than people think.

This current team has talent, the problem is it is behind other schools in terms of development, both mentally physically... All games next year will be tough, but hopefully we will start moving in the right direction and be able to make the most of our talent by midseason or before. One huge advantage and help will be if we can finally start the season healthy.. we've said this for two years and it hasn't happened yet, but just maybe this will be our year to be healthy.

Worried ab Haslam approval and controlling the hire..

That being said hope Currie gets it done

I still think Haslam will play a significant role in this hire like he always has, even though he's like 87 years old. I thought Doug Mathews made an interesting comment about him this morning that helped continue my belief in this. He said Haslam gets a lot of flack, but he was the lead dog behind hiring Dickey as football coach, Majors and Fulmer. So he hasn't made terrible decisions every time. I still think it's total crap that he gets to have final say.

This team is better than its record this year. It's not to far off base to believe they should've won 7 or 8 this year. 8 or 9 next year would not be incredible. We have talent on this roster when they aren't all injured.

Florida, South Carolina and Kentucky we're certainly winnable.

I think we have good talent at the skill positions. We'll be hurting up front on both sides of the ball though IMO. We're physically weak compared to most teams in this league and don't have quality depth. That'll take at least two years to get ironed out IMO.

And we'll be all too eager to believe every word of it.

Not really.

I've been hearing enough throughout the years to realize he's far from a saint or what many claim he was. Regardless of whether he was a bad coach.
And while some of the stuff may be bogus I wouldn't make the mistake of chalking all of it up to that.

This. Gotta have a solid OL and DL in the SEC, or you end up like....well, Tennessee this year.

So the new coach, OC, OL coach, and S&C coach are starting with...well, Trey Smith.

8 wins next year would be a very solid accomplishment. Did we not just learn what happens when you're weak up front?

Still, Go Vols.
