Lost 3 commits already. Where’s bass? Thought firing butch was supposed to stop the bleeding on recruiting?

Thanks Currie.

#firebass

keeping Jones was certainly not going bring Cade or any of the others back, that's for sure, and the longer we waited, the better chance they ended up somewhere else. Now we can at least have closure, get a new coach, and the recruits know change is in the air, and for the better. Hopefully this move and a better coach pulls Cade and other back.

Timing on the firing seems about right. One week earlier than many firings happen, but necessary.

Thanks to Butch Jones. You left this program much better than you got it. He just couldn't take it further but I wish him the best and appreciate his time here.

Amen. He needed to go, but for the life of me I don't understand why our fans continue to personally insult and mock our coaches.

In other words Currie handled it as well as he possibly could have.

Wow. What a messy divorce. Sad. I held Butch in somewhat high esteem and even defended his character a time or two before this season. Wheels completely fell off and he has withered under the pressure.

That Smith/Weatherd exchange is telling of why the team always seemed so disjointed.

This current team has talent, the problem is it is behind other schools in terms of development, both mentally physically... All games next year will be tough, but hopefully we will start moving in the right direction and be able to make the most of our talent by midseason or before. One huge advantage and help will be if we can finally start the season healthy.. we've said this for two years and it hasn't happened yet, but just maybe this will be our year to be healthy.

Seems like Butch played favorites. Pretty evident if you look at his personnel decisions and roster management.

A Letter from John Currie: Nov. 12, 2017 - University of Tennessee Athletics

This afternoon at 5:00 p.m. ET, I will hold a press conference to discuss this transition. The press conference will be streamed live on UTsports.com so that you can follow along and stay up-to-date as it takes place. Complete video and a full transcript of the press conference will be available to view on-demand on UTsports.com for those who are unable to view it live.

To protect the integrity of our process, following the press conference I will have no further public comments until such time we announce our new coach.*This search will be my sole focus and I will be in regular contact with Chancellor Davenport. Naturally, there will be great interest and speculation across the college football world. As I reminded our student-athletes when I met with them earlier today, unless you hear news directly from me, do not assume it to be accurate#GRUMORS

Reassuring to know we are in good hands with Davenport. :shakehead:

I guess so, really a lose/lose situation, but we can only hope now a new coach is announced soon, and he has enough spark and excitement behind him to create the needed BUZZ to get kids back on board and maybe, just maybe, pull one or two surprises... With the right hire, it is definitely a possibility.

I don’t think Butch knew till today he was being fired.

The VQ guys convinced me of that last week.

And I don’t think there is any done deal at all on Gruden. I’m at 75% Mullen.
