One of our country’s problems to begin with...our youth is soft as a marshmallow and it’s not good for resiliency or tenacity. My mom whooped my ass and my coaches called us poossies all the time. Not defending Butch specifically...just sayin.

call me a ***** but don't do what he did a level of stupidity and i can think of many other things to actually make a kid tough...................do you not think Cut cusses, of course he does and Helm is just fine

I briefly saw the tweet as well. It definitely was aimed at the people saying Gruden isn't worth it and such. He basically said to those people...sit back and watch.

I was going to ask about that. I had a notification from Beav's twitter and saw something about nout worth 10mil. Then when I went to it, it was gone. Hoping someone saw what it said! That it wasnt something negative

ON Basilio a recruit tweeted out that Butch called him at 1230 today and told him to find somewhere to go quickly and that if he landed another job he would be in touch. Tanner Ingle was the recruit.

Just a thought (and anyone with anymore analytical ability than myself please chime in) but why would we announce Hoke as the Interim just to announce Gruden as the HC later on that day? I’m still at 60-70% just think the timing might be more like the end of the season for an announcement? Or maybe I just should GTFO for the day?....ok I’ll escort myself out.

You think Gruden will coach out the rest of the year?

TB reading Orlando Sentinel article that Jones calling recruits Dr Phillips High DB Ingle "I'll call you once I land at school"

Currie needs to move to shore up our recruiting class! Here's the reaction of some recruits willing to address the firing:

Greg Emerson: "I am 150% committed."

Alontae Taylor: "I wish nothing but the best for him and his family. I have been talking to Wake Forest, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Louisville. I will now look more into those four programs and look to have a decision by Dec. 22."

Trey Dean: "I was very surprised about the news. I probably will de-commit from Tennessee."

Michael Penix: "I don’t want to talk about the recruitment. I’m still committed to UT right now.I’m just trying to focus on finishing my season."

Jaycee Horn: "No comment."

Anthony Grant: “It’s crazy. I felt like he was a great coach and he was building something there. I’m staying committed and just see what happens.”

Jamarcus Chatman: "I don’t even know what to say honestly but, I’m staying committed.”

Shocky Jacques-Louis: "Tennessee is a great school and I love it there but Coach Jones was the pushing edge to keep me there at Tennessee the only thing that was keeping me there was the faith in the coaching staff but I guess the people in charge didn’t have as much faith as I did."

Currie's official statement:

Here's the whole statement:

"I would like to emphasize how much I appreciate Butch and Barb Jones and their sons, Alex, Adam and Andrew. The Jones family has poured their heart and soul into this Tennessee football program and the Knoxville community. We have been fortunate to have Coach Jones lead our program for the last five years. During that time, the program has improved tremendously in the areas of academics, discipline and community involvement.

"Unfortunately, we are not where we need to be competitively. For that reason, I have asked Coach Jones to step down as head football coach. I know Coach Jones will be successful moving forward, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

"Coach Brady Hoke has been named interim head coach. I know Vol Nation will rally around this team and support our student-athletes as they compete the remainder of this season.

"An exhaustive search is underway for a person of the highest integrity and character with the skills and vision to propel Tennessee to championships. This search will be my sole focus, and I will be in regular contact with Chancellor Davenport. I want to make clear that we are intensely committed to hiring the best coach for Tennessee."

Not surprising, but F Butch Jones. All good will he has attained for fixing Dooley's mess has gone out the window for me.

I was chastised for bringing this very thing up a few weeks ago. I questioned the timing and postponement of BJ's firing, and how these could affect how Butch may sabotage UT.

No one listened to me......

There are a lot of Alabama bandwagon fans in middle Tennessee...

They’re in West Tennessee too. Work with a guy that claims to be a hardcore Alabama fan and has the massive “Alabama” A on his back windshield. Best part, it’s a Braves A and no way I am telling him because it is much funnier hearing him talk nonsense and being clueless.

With stories coming out, if Haslams have been protecting CBJ, it’s the equivalent of enabling a hostile environment that creates irreversible legal liability for UT. I don’t care what $’s they have. If their enablement Of CBJ is true, we do not need their money. They should be distanced from the University immediately and names completely erased from buildings, scholarships, and everything else.

Called a recruit in Florida. Notified him of his departure and told him to "find some where to go". "If I land somewhere I will let you know".

Paraphrased.
