You may be underestimating their fan base and money. And yes, they share that recruiting ground with other big schools, but it's also astronomically deeper than just about any other state.

Exactly. And when UF is strong, they are the destination of choice for the top Florida recruits. Plus, they recruit nationally. Kids from up North like the idea of playing in sunny Florida for a strong, cocky team with tons of "swagger," which is basically the blueprint for every successful UF team over the past 30 years.
