Everything looked so promising from Wednesday through Friday. I have a hard time beliving that all of the sudden Saturday morning some NFL owners decided to get serious in a pursuit of Gruden. Probably a smokescreen.

Also, if Currie didn't fire Butch after Kentucky I am not sure why he'd do it today. We're probably stuck with Butch for two more games.

Ground hog day week 6 since the Georgia game, why in the **** are we waking up to this thing still coaching our team?? How much more embarrassment must these players and fans suffer? Worst team in the history of UT football.

I've read through the tread from last night, and now remember why I try not to get on after a loss.

FWIW...I don't know anything about the meeting with Tampa that DTO referenced, but can't imagine it being more than a courtesy.

I'd hate to be stuck on a deserted island with many of the people on this board. You people eat your own.

Good morning all. The news DTO dropped last night could mean any number of things, one of which could be false. I'm not worried as I think the deal is pretty much done. Signed contract/handshake, I don't know. Nor do I think folks should get caught up in a MOU being signed or not. I think Currie isn't in a hurry to lose the extra baggage because we have our man. Wasn't it confirmed that a home was purchased? Gruden Soon!

Are we thinking there will not be some sort of announcement today? I’m not sure how much worse it could be to announce that BJ will not be here next year but would be here for the remainder of this year. At least then maybe the players can relax and have some fun.

AV is the person I listen to on here. He delivers first hand information for the most part (or close to it), because he runs in those circles. Everybody else has second or third hand gossip or worse.

With that said, I remember last time. Nobody on here should get their hopes too high. This is more unlikely than it is likely.

But, boy do we need it -- or at least another home run hire.

Ok 2 game left LSU and Vandy. Vandy is the only one we have a realistic shot at I think

What is the advantage to keeping Butch Jones around for the last 2 games? Do you think he’s here through the end of the season regardless of how bad it is?

Several have posted jones is gone after the Mizzou game if they get beat bad especially. And now we wait to see if it’s true just like every previous weekend

And I know this is the gruden thread, but if I see one person come in here screaming for Mullen after he choked that game away last night, I’m going to reach through the screen and punch them.

DTO's info drop doesn't bother me for reasons many stated overnight:
-he wants to be top dog, and the glazers care more about futbol than football.
- Gruden has been flying around since the Georgia game assembling and interviewing assistants.
-to me there has been sufficient evidence that the Gruden family was moving to Knoxville with or without a coaching job. Staying in tampa doesn't make sense.
-DTO also came in a few weeks ago in the middle if a game to tell us the Gruden deal was dead.
-UTVolinExile has very good info about intentional leaks and outright lies from the AD.

I'm not saying DTO is lying to us. I'm saying he is being lied to. I'm still at 90%. I think, for good reason, Gruden wants this job as much as we all want him to have it. Almost every job in the NFL has been his for the asking for many years. Why would he suddenly take a job from someone who fired him? Makes no sense.

My fingers are crossed that Butch is gone today.

Who knows. I still think he's our coach for the remainder of the year. Now, will it be announced that he finishes the season and will not be retained next year? I could see that happening, not sure that it will. Just a guessing game at this point.
