He hasn't coached in almost a decade. Saban hasn't taken a hiatus.

The hiring of both coaches is totally different, which is what my response is to. You mentioned that you wished I was Bama's AD ten years ago. It's just a weird and inaccurate comparison.

Your original premise for not going after Gruden was because it's a waste of time. It's a huge long shot. My response was because nobody thought Saban was gonna coach alabubba at the time but their AD didn't give up. He swung for the fences and hit a home run. He didn't settle just because he was afraid to get turned down. Thus me saying I wish you were their AD because you wouldn't have gone after Saban because it wasn't likely that he would come and you could have been spending your time wooing candidates that were sure to say yes.

What do you guys think is so much harder about coaching in college than the NFL? I don't get that.

Serious question, do you honestly think Gruden has forgotten how to coach? You know he studies the game every day. More than most current coaches

Iowa st down another QB. Was their 4th string before Lanning moved to LB...... still went down field and scored go ahead TD with ease. If cambell seriously beats OK and TCU with a 3rd string QB that nobody wanted then beats OK st with a 4th string RS freshman. Guys stock will be through the dang roof.

Also wtf we not recruit JJ MCCleskey boy

I don't think he's forgotten how to coach, but the game has changed. He's not used to the grind of recruiting and he's not used to working with immature teenagers.

They're vastly different. It's not about just coaching. It's about everything the college job encompasses.

You think he's just going to come out of his comfy job and set the college football world on fire? That's just as outlandish. I think the guy can coach and I think he would do very well, but I simply don't think he will want to take the leap back into coaching.

Y’all hold down the fort. Not going to be able to watch the game. If we win , you know it has been all my fault.

Go Vols!
