Hmm. That’s an interesting one.

From listening to Hubbs the other day I’m becoming convinced Currie could hire someone very solid but completely out of left field (assuming it’s not Mullen). Wittingham fits that bill.

Jeff Long pulled Bielema out of left field. Nobody saw that coming. On paper, it was a home run hire.

Uhhh no. Bama had 5 Turnovers. They shot themselves in the foot a bunch and had two blown coverages on defense that lead to TD's

So Utah gets no credit for those turnovers? Or maybe setting up plays to force blown coverages? Please don’t use the excuse that bama didn’t want to be there.

Someone asked Swan if he had been hearing good news. He said, “Yes...that’s my last comment on this subject.”

Would you be as excited if Gary Kubiak or Brian bullick was the hire?

I would be happy with either. Kubiak less so because his team won more because of Wade Phillips defense. And he had limited success before those two years at Denver. Gruden almost went to two Super Bowls in Oakland and by all accounts SHOULD have won the tuck rule game. Dumbest rule ever and I'm glad it's gone. His resume smokes Kubiaks

Billick would be great. He is an excellent coach, and I can't stand the guy

Neither have the star power that Gruden does, and that matters in recruiting.

The way I understand it, Swan posted that we had lost Kiffin, and then about an hour later Hubbs posted “Guys it’s true” in Swan’s thread.

I'd rather have Mullen over Whittingham as well. I think there's a decent chance Whittingham would outright fail at Tennessee. Don't see his ceiling being higher than Mullen's either, while his floor is much lower.

We would know what we were getting with Mullen, who is also much younger than Whittingham.

Does it really matter today tho? We haven’t won any kind of title in 20 years. All present day recruits were not even on the planet yet. History is great and all but even program with less or history have been more successful at times than us since we lost won a title.

That's not the point. We were discussing what our expectations should be. Just because we haven't been good in the past 10 years (not 20, because we were still pretty good for most of the 2000s) doesn't mean we shouldn't expect to ever be good again.

Our historical average shouldn't be accepted now as our peak

Brent's famous, "Guys, it's true" was when Kiffin left. That was the day I realized how much Brent made on subscriptions. Might be the all time record for people on VQ.
